Guys

Yesterday I went to the local office in Columbus,OH for my interim EAD. I had filed my EAD back in Dec-2005.

After checking the system the lady told that my EAD was approved Feb 1st. But it was not mailed to me bcaz I did not do the biometrics. I said well thats right bcaz they did not send a biometrics letter. She then asked me to do the biometrics right then by filling a form. She told she cannot issue me an interim EAD since my case was approved already.

Then I did my biometrics and I was told that my EAD shoudl in the mail within 2 weeks. But from reading experiences I think I will get in the next few days. This is weird that my EAD was approved and I was not informed by email or the many times I called them by phone. Just this week they said that my case is still pending and not approved when I called.Shows how messed up their system is. I wasted almost a month not working.

My advice to anyone in a similar situation: Don't trust the online status thing nor the customer service reps. on phone. Just wait for 90 days and on 91st day go to the local office and check whats happening with your case.

Cheers !

Hello GenghizKhan,

Congratulations!!!

Similar to my case. When I went to local office I have been told that it had been approved in February.

But I received the appointment letter although a little late. I finally have got interim EAD. I am waiting for the normal one. But normal EAD is not much different than the interim because it gives you the right to work a few months more.

Congrats again!

I went thru the same situation. I just found out back in early feb. that my ead was approved back in october (i filed in august of 2005). I just found out now from our congress here at home but couldn't do anything until i was issued a bio met. exam. Its a hassle for sure and everyone on those lines is going to tell you something different if they can tell you anything at all.

There are many of us who had the same problem as you and yes it does suck... And when you actually get your EAD it'll be dated Feb 1st. I know it's annoying and frustrating when you know you could have been applying for jobs/working for almost 2 months already...but at least you'll finally get your EAD  Congrats :star:

December 13, 2007 - I-751 submitted to NSC (removing of conditions fun begins...)

December 22 - Received a rejection notice because the form was not "properly signed". Package itself was not returned.

January 1, 2008 - Received packet back from CSC. They are requesting we resubmit the packet (which is already organized by CSC) with a properly signed form.

January 2 - Packet resubmitted to California.

January 12 - NOA1 received (dated 01/07/2008)

January 19 - Biometrics appointment notice received (dated 01/15/2008)

February 1 - Biometrics

March 11 - Approved! Card production ordered (notified via e-mail).

March 20, 2008 - New card arrived in the mail :)

Done until 2018 :)

ME TOO!! I filed my applications in early December. So after 90 days in March, I went to my local USCIS office to ask for an interim EAD. They asked if I took the fingerprint yet, I said no. So, they gave me a blue form and scheduled a biometric appointment (which was another 30 days later) for me. They refused to give me the Interim EAD since my case was approved?!?!

Today, I just went to take my biometric. When I'm at the counter, I gave them the blue form plus my I-765 and I-485 receipts. The guy didn't know what was going on, so he asked his supervisor to look up my case. 15 mintues later, the supervisor tore up my blue form and said something to that guy. Then, he wrote code 2 and 3 (I don't know what that means) on my receipts and asked to take the biometrics.

I'm still not sure what is going on now. Was my case approve or not? I was questiong about that because I doubt if the officer at my local USCIS looked up my case. . He just gave me the blue form once he heard I didn't have my biometrics. I'm now hoping my EAD will come to my mail like you guys.

How long I still have to wait?

Hello Fafabb,

I really do not know what they did..no idea what those codes mean.

But I think you will get your card in the mail in a week or so. I am sure they are updating your case status online. Have you checked yours?

Yes, I checked mine but nothing has been changed -- not even a touch! :crying:

I am crossing my fingers and hoping my EAD card will come!

And yea... the EAD valid date will be from the first day they apporved (or what ever date they came up with.. i have no idea ) which is very frustrating....

That is quite weird.. I was in the same situation (EAD approved long before the INFOPASS but no bio-letter)but they gave me the interim EAD anyway.. and told me to wait for my Biometric appointment in the mail... but we have to drive for 3 hrs to get there so we went to the biometric office (with just my NOA1) and got it done without any hussle.... and after that they send the letter said my EAD has been approved and they sent the real card in the mail soon later...

I hope that everything works out for you though..

All I can say is... YOU ARE LUCKY!! no matter how many times I ask about the temporary one, they said I need to get the biometrics done first. They finally used the excuse "your application has been approved" to say I am not eligible to get a temporary one.

Anyway, I just received an email today saying my work permit card is on its way. I can end my worries now!
