Mother Traveling on b1/b2, applied for extension

Hello,

My mother travelled to the united states on b1/b2 visa in February 2020, she was admitted for 6 months but because of her old age I was hesitant to send her back in august due to Covid-19. However I did apply for her extension (I-539) on basis of her old age and coronavirus. The case is still pending and we have notice of action that her case is received.

My question is that she now want to leave in December , since we have not heard anything about her case yet, do I need a permission for her to leave or she can just leave? I am asking this so she is not stopped at the airport for overstaying her visa?

She can leave any time she wants.   There are no immigration checkpoints when leaving the US.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
