Land Border crossing Canada to USA with approved Visa

Now that interviews are being rescheduled, I would love to know who has been able to cross over by land with an approved visa (k-1 or spousal). Just wondering where they attempted and how it went. My fiance's visa was approved last week and on it's way and we are really nervous if he is going to have to fly or can drive ( he lives 1 mile from the Windsor/Detroit tunnel). The consulate told him to contact the border and ask before attempting but he wants to wait until visa is in his hands.

I would think spousal visas would be no issue, but who knows with a K1.  I would do as suggested and contact CBP at the D-W Tunnel.  I know there are allowable land crossings as some of my co-workers on TN visas are allowed to cross.

Good Luck, and let us know what CBP says.

I think my biggest fear is the person on the phone will say yes and then he'll pack up his apartment and get to the border and they will be like NO.... so stressful!

Hey any updates on this? Im in the same situation.

He has his visa now in hand. Going to call tomorrow to ask about crossing at the land border. I wish I knew of someone that was already successful, I hate being the guinea pig lol

My wife crossed by land on Oct 7th IR-1 visa. She called border a couple days beforehand to make sure she could cross. It was at a tiny border crossing, Bonners in BC. Everything went smoothly and took about 20 minutes.

Thank you! I have heard of a couple spouses getting across easily but no k1 yet so I'm still a little nervous about that.

Any update on what happened?  Any issues crossing from Canada to USA at land border on K1 visa?  What land border did they enter through?
