I don't believe you can self-sponsor if you're interviewing in Montreal.

She will need a joint sponsor.

The requirement is that I should subtract 21 k to her income so if her income is zero then it should be 21 k times 3

that for financial rule the embassy should not interfere in that

Please study the I-864 instructions here -- https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr-pc.pdf

Total Value of Assets. In order to qualify based on the value of your assets, the total value of your assets must equal at least five times the difference between your total household income and the current Federal Poverty Guidelines for your household size.

3x21=63

3x20=60 so according your math shew is 3k short.   You may want to look at the requirements for Montreal and she may need a joint sponsor.

Except for spouse of US Citizen, it is 3X.  You failed to read ALL the instructions.  😉

To the OP, meeting the minimum is NOT an guarantee the judgment call will go in your favor.

You would not be self sponsoring.  You would be using liquid assets of the intending immigrant stated and documented on the petitioner's I-864.  My recommendation is that if you have less than $100,000 n liquid assets between you, get a qualified joint sponsor.

Ahaha!  Thanks for pointing out.  I did read the whole thing, so I don't know why I didn't copy over the next sentence -- "However, if you are a U.S. citizen and you are sponsoring your spouse or child age 18 years of age or older, the total value of your assets must only be equal to at least three times the difference."  Brain fart 🤪

Then why are you concerned and asking here, if you think you'll have no problem?

For liquid assets (savings, checking, etc.) the MINIMUM is 3x the difference between the sponsor's current income and the federal poverty limit.  And that is just a guideline, not a yes/no hard rule.   It is up to the judgements CO at the embassy of the likelihood of the immigrant to become a public charge burden.   My recommendation is for you to line up a joint sponsor.

If you recently filed for a spousal visa, you have a long wait before an interview in Montreal, maybe 18 months or even two years from now, because of the pandemic and backlog for interviews.  Even before COVID-19, Montreal had a very long wait for an interview, and it's much worse now.  The interview will be when the officer makes a decision based on the totality of the financial circumstances, if there is any public charge concern.  So you have plenty of time for:  1) your wife to finish her education and get a job, 2) your wife can find a job now while a student (trust me, most of my students in the US do this and complete their studies just fine) to show at least some income at the interview, or 3) you can continue to work in Canada and save up more assets so that in 2 years you'll have much more than $64K in the bank to show the officer at the interview.  I suggest a combination of #2 and #3, to increase your chances for approval without a co-sponsor.  Good luck!

I wish I could like this more than once!

This seems to be how all topics started by this poster go: they ask a question, get answers they don't like, and then start arguing how everyone is wrong.

Exactly.  And then starts a new thread with essentially the same question some weeks later.

I don't believe he has even been petitioned for a visa.   It is not even clear whether he is married yet.  Previous posts demonstrate that there is a steep learning curve involved.
