Hi Everyone.. I was referred to this site by a member of ES Search. I am American living in U.S. and married here in the US to an Egyptian man whom I love with all my heart. We have been married for 1 1/2 years. Last year, we had our interview, and waited for a letter. The letter arrived after two weeks stating we had to appear for another interview at a different location almost a year later. Well two weeks ago, was that second interview. The "waiting" is destroying my life. I have not been able to eat, sleep or function. They asked us 75 questions at the interview, and my husband and I had 5 out of 75 responses which they called "discrepencies". We provided our explanations, and were told we would receive a letter with their decision in the mail. 5 out of 75 is about 92% correct, which I hope is acceptable. Some people have said that if they approved us, they would of immediately stamped my husband's passport and sent him for processing of fingerprints, etc. While others say, that is not true. They send you a letter with the approval and then you go for processing of fingerprints, etc.......

Needless to say, I am a total mess right now....... How do people cope with their lives while awaiting the decision.. The decision has the affect of totally changing our lives.

Please, can anyone offer me any advice or guidance based on my situation...... I would greatly appreciate it...

The waiting sucks out loud! :ranting: I'm sorry you have had to wait so long. The waiting can really get to you, I know. I did everything imaginable trying to keep my mind busy during the waiting period and it really didn't help. I made myself sick. I wish I had the words to help you through this difficult time. You were able to attend the interview with your husband? I wasn't even allowed up to the window. :crying: Seems like that was A LOT of questions to be asking. Did your husband recieve a 221(g) after the interview? And didn't they do a set of prints at the interview? As far as them immediately putting the visa in his passport.....well Cairo just doesn't do it like that. Have you tried emailing the embassy directly to see what their deal is?

It sounds like an AOS interview.

OP...please be more specific on the type of interview. Are you and your husband both living in the US?

Hi Moody,

Yes, it is an "AOS" Interview. Yes, we are both here in the United States. It's almost a month now and we still have not received a decision. It's so upsetting waiting, I just wish these people understood what the waiting does to people.

Thanks so much for your advice.

Peppani,

Perhaps your husband is still in name checks. Some ppl are caught up in name checks for years after they apply for and interview for the green card. It's not terribly unusual.

Just a tip....there's an AOS forum on VJ so next time ask your questions about AOS there. You'll get more responses in that forum than here. This section is for the foreign consulate. Also, check out the MENA (Mid East/North Africa)forums.

Were you separated for the interview? if you were is was the "stokes" interview.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do but document your journey and start sending letters to the USCIS ombudsman, both senators and your congressional representative.

Did you provide letters from US citizens who know you as a couple? if not, you may want to get some in case you need to go before an immigration judge.

Please fill in your time line, it really does help people give you advise.
