  I know Benford analysis showed no evidence of fraud in the 2004 Ukraine election, even thought they actually found 1.5 million fake votes. It has also shown evidence of fraud in several elections where non was alleged or suspected. I think some of the assumptions that are needed for Benfords law to apply don't always hold true with the dataset generated by voting blocks. It is probably better than flipping a coin to determine evidence of fraud, but  not that much better.

 

  It's a great tool for monitoring fraudulent bank transactions though.

Actually both are used, but either are only high level analysis indicating the potential of fraud.  A more detailed analysis would need to be completed using the first two digits, and possibly even the first three digits to determine if targeted audits should be conducted.  I assume this is being done at least in WI where the automatic recount would already be triggered.

 

From a high level view though, as a comparative tool, the analysis can be telling.  If I was going to create a vote counting fraud scheme, and I was a Democrat operative, I would focus on Milwaukee, Detroit and Philadelphia.  Those areas are certainly heavily Democrat although not entirely, and all have the ability to determine the outcome of the State.  With Joe’s electoral map, these would be the three states to focus on as winning WI, MI and PA would almost ensure his victory.  This seemed to be the Democrats tactic to do everything they could to create a potential for finding votes preferential to Joe in the counting in those states, and considering these counting processes are not transparent to the general public (not sue why this is the case as it would be easy to keep the counting processes monitored by video), it is understandable there would be questions.  If the various state SOSs really wanted to ensure election integrity, they could introduce video recording of the counting/tabulation process, and possibly shuffle the local clerks offices around in their states.

The only time that wouldn't happen is if someone goes to great lengths to conceal that information, which is already illegal. That ballot would not have been counted if cast, and your friend would face legal issues for trying.  People need to move on from this. In 1920 you could sneak votes for deceased people through. In 2020 it's not happening. 

 

  If the GOP learned one thing from the last 4 years, it should be give up the nonsense about voter fraud and fake votes and vote suppression. If they would put some of that effort into coming up with actual policies that supported a broader range of people instead of making excuses, they might not be in the situation they are in right now.

   Statistics is a big part of epidemiology, so I have used both at times in my field, although neither is my day job anymore. However, it's not so much that I am an expert in either, more that I do know BS when I smell it.

It's time to move on. Move on by choice now, or wait a few years and be forced. Demographics are changing, and the GOP will have to change too if they want to stay relevant. They know that. They talked about that a lot prior to 2016, and then for some reason they decided to double down with Trump and milk the old system for a few more years. They are going to run out of ways to exclude people. They need to start focusing on inclusion. For their own good, and for everyone.

People have already found tens of thousands of dead people voting, combing over public death records and comparing that to voter databases available by the states tracking ballots. And this is just one single issue in one single state.

 

So yeah, it's already been proven, so suggesting it hasn't happened, that there's no evidence, or won't be proven? All lies. If it were just being wrong, I'd say as much, but people have already been shown in links provided and there are excel databases of it compiled by Republicans over the past week so those still denying at this point, they're just lying. Whether they're lying because they want fraud, because they find it beneficial, or maybe they're not that smart, doesn't matter. Things are going to move forward with that regardless of one's imagination, whether or not they mean different results/outcomes doesn't matter either. The fraud needs to be dealt with. If it changes the results of elections it does, if it doesn't, it doesn't.

If History is any indication, the GOP will not change, in four years we will get another McCain neocon, or a Romney with no excitement.  Personally, except for a few pockets, I see the GOP losing a lot of national credibility particularly if the Lincoln Project types try and take it over.

Democrats need to do the same. there are so many people that agree with their economic policies, but disagree on things like capital punishment, gun ownership, abortion, climate change etc that they need to do a better job of finding a position and message that resonates rather than allow themselves to be painted as something. I am an example of that

 

people now are very nuanced in beliefs that pigeonholing them into one tribe or another really doesnt work. this is why i think less people will identify in parties in the future in favor of being independent

i think we really have several different parties

pure socialists

progressives

centrist democrats

centrist republicans

tea party

libertarian

trumpists

green

nazis/white supremacists/fascists
