I’m trying to get the social security application for my 1 year-old son, he and his mother (non US citizen) are in Colombia. I’ve had several phone calls with the local office, they told me that my fiancé can NOT do anything for our son and that I, as the only one with US citizenship has to go through the application process for our son.

If you’re the US citizen, it would be a lot easier if you did the app and submitted it yourself. My first application was returned because I did not submit my identification, they want either a passport or drivers license issued in the US. Because of my job, I need my passport. I will be resending the application with my drivers license.
