I don't trust most public transportation there.  One early morning I caught a trike to the local bus terminal to go to the local airport to fly out.  We came within about 3 feet from getting flattened like a pancake from a bus speeding thru town around 4 am in the morning.  I looked into the trike drivers eyes and realized he with either drunk as a skunk or high as a kite after the near death experience.  Lesson learnt that day for me.

And what choice do we have or our spouses have? In Puerto Princess car taxis are not allowed, only motorcycle taxis. I made the mistake of giving 250 pesos instead of 150 pesos to the taxi driver and the next morning there was 5 lined up. And this comes after we couldn't find anybody to give us transportation the day before. Word gets around !

Amazing what $2.06 can do for you.

Finally done.

Why does she have to quarantine for so long? I thought max is 14 days (assuming negative). I am arriving Manila from US to see my spouse and was told after I get the results (assuming negative) I can quarantine at her home in metro Manila for the remaining 14 days. Also, I thought quarantine was for arriving international passengers and not those flying going to Manila domestically.

How was the process for getting the visa?  I am planning on going with my wife in December or January but I need to get the visa first.

How long are you staying?

That is the rub. My step daughter wants a month or more. My wife will go but only has a couple weeks of vacation. I have lots of vacation time but don’t want to necessarily spend it in the Philippines without my wife. My step daughter really wants her 18th there but it may be very difficult to get it done. If she has to quarantine for half the trip is it worth it?  Her heart is set on it but we will see what happens.

I just mailed my documents to the consulate in NYC and it is supposed to take 2 weeks. I am planning on leaving October 24th and will keep you posted with how the visa process goes.

Thank you so much. That helps. I was told that everything gets sent to the Embassy in Washington and they send it to the local consulate. I’m lucky here because the consulate is only 30 minutes away.

My understanding you have 14 days in quarantine in Manila upon arrival.  Is that your final destination?

I know someone who just went back. He has a child there. Covid test at the airport. Results in under 48 hours (stayed at an approved hotel) then on his way to Olongapo.

Finally done...

My wife has her interview on October 27 and her birthday is October 29th. While I probably can’t be with her for those things I’m hoping I can leave the quarantine hotel after a negative test and then quarantine at her place in Makati for the remaining days (I have read conflicting things about this). At the very least we can celebrate a belated bday and to me it’s worth it since we have been apart 7 months and I can do all my work remotely (the only positive to come from COVID).

So they let them go on their way after results?

Cuz I keep seeing 14 days quarantine time

https://ph.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/#:~:text=Quarantine is required for 14,their COVID-19 test results.

It is from the US Embassy in Philippines.

You would hope or at least think they would have correct and up to date information

Well...It is the way they word it. 1st they start off by saying 14 day quarantine and then they say once you have cleared and proved negative you can go. And then I'm pretty sure on the Bureau of Immigration it says from 2-3 days to get a negative result and then you are free to go to your hotel.
