I-485/I-693 Is a medical required if Marie had one in February in the Philippines?

The instructions in regard to the I-693 are confusing to me and refer only to a K-1/2 Visa Holder. I was under the impression that Marie wouldnt have to see a doctor here in the U.S. as long as she had her medical done in her home country prior to her arrival in the US in which she did in February. Could someone shed some light on this for us and maybe tell us what we need to do and what forms we need to send along with the I-485. NOTE: She has her medical from St. Lukes and her chest X-Ray.

She will still have to see civil surgeon certified by USCIS if She is K1-visa holder(i'm positive with these part) Wether she like it or not. But for Spousal visa-K3 or called it I-130  i have no idea if Supplementary vaccine forms is required for K3 to seek AOS in United states. But anyway.. if she is married to you in Philippines then she just need her spousal visa. Perhaps her fiancee visa I-129F  will not issue since she has Spousal visa waiting too. Maybe i'm just wrong with these part :help:

I was confused with the instructions regarding K3s in the I-485 also in regards to the Designated Civil Surgeon. Only states Fiance visas need the Supplemental I-693 if you've had a immigration related medical in tthe last year.

We [K3/K4] did it anyway and at the interview the Immigration officier called in another person and went thru a BIG book and said it was OK.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

You will need to send in the I-693A vaccination supplement filled out in the US by a civil surgeon. Also as a side note, it seems to be coming popular among interviewing officers to ask for the TB skin test.

For most people, (aged 18 - 64) The needed vaccinations are MMR, TD, and varicella.

If any of these she doesnt have, ph around for pricing before going to the CS as they tend to charge higher for them.

Just make sure she takes documentation. Most CS will tell you that you need the full medical, this is incorrect and you might want to refer to the K1 (K3 falls also under this) instructions. Only the vaccination supplement is needed. If you have the DS-3025 vaccination supplement from your overseas medical that will help and they can just transcribe those results onto the needed form for AOS.

For most of your questions refer to K1 guides (k3 was created later but follows the same guidelines). The only difference is the employment authorisation on entry.... K3 SOL.

It is technically Appendix A, or the proper name is Supplemental Form to I-693 http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/ti-03/appdx-a_693vacc.pdf..

Some secretaries (or even civil surgeons) wouldn't know if the intending immigrant refers to the vaccination supplement as "I-693A".

(the link I provided doesn't work here, just go to uscis.gov and hyperlink is at I-693.

To GarynMarie,

When I had my medical I was instructed by the physician to get the Td shot in the US.. What were the instructions to your wife? Does she have the Appendix C copy (Vaccines to Complete for Adults)? If I am not mistaken, SLMCEC dispenses a copy to the person examined of the vaccination doc sheets for your personal record (2 copies are made, one remains at SLMCEC--to be forwarded to the local consulate, the other copy is for the applicant.

Yes she has a copy of the Appendix C and on the bottom of the page a added note statesthat the applicant is advised to have the Td (Tetanus-Diphtheria) vaccination upon arrival in the US- I read that and cringed-Those things Hurt.

So I guess what we need to do is get her Td shot done and the Supplemental I-693, send that in with the AOS application. Thats it!- If there is more I hope someone will advise. Thanks everyone and God Bless

Okay, here's something I found from the FEDERAL REGISTER INTERIM REGULATIONS at USCIS website, I quote:

"C. Medical Examinations

According to 8 CFR 245.5, aliens seeking to adjust status are required to undergo a medical examination performed by a designated civil surgeon to determine whether they are inadmissible under section 212(a)(1)(A) of the Act. To date, applicants for K nonimmigrant visas have been required to obtain a medical examination abroad pursuant to Department of State regulations at 22 CFR 41.81 prior to entry, and the medical examination is not repeated if they apply for adjustment of status within 1 year of the dat e the examination was performed. They are, however, required to submit with the adjustment of status application a vaccination assessment completed by a designated civil surgeon in order to establish their compliance with the vaccination requirements under section 212(a)(1)(A)(ii) of the Act.

The Service will continue this same policy for the K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants. K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants who file their adjustment of status application within 1 year from the date of the medical examination overseas will not have to submit an additional medical examination. However, the Service notes that applicants whose medical examinations overseas revealed a “Class A” or “Class B” condition (as defined by 42 CFR 34.2( B ) ) must establish upon application for adjustment of status that they complied with those cond itions imposed on the initial admission. Failure to comply with those conditions means that a new medical examination will be required.

Hope this helps you GarynMarie! Now get the Td shot for Marie and good luck with your AOS filing.
