Thought I would start a new thread related to the SCOTUS nomination process so anyone not wanting to discuss politics in the RGB announcement thread can weigh in.  If the Mods think otherwise, feel free to combine this thread with that one.

A 'Circus' Senate Hearing? GOP Sees Gain if Dems Act Up

By Philip Wegmann - RCP Staff

At first, the protesters were polite. They filed quietly into the back of the hearing room, sat in the two dozen or so seats reserved for the public, and waited patiently. But then, one by one, they started yelling, and then, one by one, they were hauled away by Capitol Police. On the first day of Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing, 70 people were charged with disorderly conduct.

It wasn’t any calmer outside the oak doors of the Judiciary Committee. Hundreds of anti-Kavanaugh demonstrators blocked hallways and chased senators into elevators and generally did their best to use their right to peaceably assemble to stop the Senate from fulfilling its duty – in this case, to offer advice and consent on President Trump’s second Supreme Court nominee.

Two years later, during a pandemic and just weeks ahead an election, partisan strife is even worse as Trump prepares to name a third justice.

“There won’t be a circus this time,” a senior committee aide said with a real sigh of relief now that the Senate has closed its doors to the public because of the coronavirus. “Unless,” the Republican added, “the Democratic senators put one on.”

Given the antics of Harris and Booker last time, maybe one of them will roll all over the committee floor kicking and screaming on this one.

This is one reason to  go through a nomination process right now, whether it is the members of the Judicial Committee, or all the other Dems on the floor, they will act like complete idiots for all the voters to see.  I do feel sorry for the person that will be subjected to this, there is already false stories out there about Judge Barrett, Newsweek had to run a correction, but in order to keep their Left Wing bias card they left the story up even though they admit it was false.

We knew it was going to be tough to do, but they found a way to try and disparage her.  Falsely, of course, but that won't stop them from continuing to try.

I strongly conclude that they should proceed straight to a vote, with no hearings.

The top two prospects have already been vetted recently.

Why give these lunatics a chance to string things out, like Feinstein managed to do with that letter from Blasey Fraud?

Why give Harris (who's been as invisible as Hiden lately) ANY spot on center stage?

If you have a chance to avoid a poisonous snake, you do it -- you don't stand there and poke it so that it will prove to third parties that it's poisonous.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
