The risk-reward was of making it big, and people knew of the small chances of success, but even those who are successful have trade-offs to consider. The reason people tend to stay is because the weather really spoils you. I know this because it was very hard for me to leave for the years I wanted to, but it's a common thread of people leaving the state and why it took so long. California had already been pushing people (decent people, people with the ability and finances to move) out, and the more incentive they add to move with the violence, taxes, shutdowns, politics, etc., the more that pendulum moves. It simply isn't worth it to be there anymore for the litany of growing ex-Californians. I, myself, spent between 25 and 30 years of my life there, and while dealing with the weather issues elsewhere has sucked, it's far more worth it to have stable employment, employment flexibility, and not deal with the idiocy of things happening in California, than to simply have consistently good weather. I regret not spending more time elsewhere, would've made my initial move a lot less harsh.

Why do all the Bible Belt states have the strongest adult entertainment industry?

Perhaps all those christians who have wives who obey them as instructed by the Bible, and all those submissive wives who have dinner on the table when their hard working husbands get home need a little relief from monotony too?

I mean, even though they live in the "Bible Belt" doesn't mean they don't see the enjoyable benefits of porn, amirite?

Fairly evenly divided, I wonder if the covid-19 disruption to the campaigns affects the odds?

Hard to say how this will play out at this time.  Biden is sort of suspending his campaign in a way like what John McCain did in 2008, and who knows how Trump will turn out.
