Hi, I completed my medical in Jamaica a week ago and received a call yesterday to come in to review my results with the doctor. I tried to find out why and was told the doctor will discuss with me. I asked if I needed to bring anything and was told $1000 jamaican dollars. I am really worried. Does this mean I failed my medical? Anybody else experienced this?

I can't speak from experience with Jamaica but usually when a doctor wants to review with you there are some concerns/abnormalities.

Thank you. My thoughts too, just wondering how that may impact my visa. Also, thought they would just submit the results to the consulate whether good or bad for their decision on the results. Wasn't aware the doctor would review the results with me. Never heard of this happening.

Anytime a doctor calls you to discuss test results, there is a medical concern that they have to talk to you about.  Whether this will affect your visa should not be a priority, I would be concerned about my physical health.

I’d have to agree with @Luckycuds it’s possible they found an abnormality... not sure about the $1k if you paid for the medical in advance..

The review could be for something that requires additional checks or treatment.  I don't like the fact that they have asked you to take $1000 to the meeting though.  That sounds sketchy.  Are you sure you got the call from your doctor, and is he/she authorized by the local U.S. embassy?

Well it goes without saying that I am concerned about the results as it pertains to my health but this forum is for visa questions not medical advise, hence my inquiry about visa implications. My visa application is also a priority of mine. Thank you.

It was a call from a # registered at the only hospital that conducts medicals in Jamaica so I'd say it was legit. Not sure what the money for is either, guess I'll learn in due time...was just seeking answers in the interim.

O.K. I would still call directly to check, anyone moderately savvy with a computer can spoof a phone number (call you and make it look like they are calling from a different phone number).  Make sure you go to the same office where you got your medical test only.  Good luck!

Ah, OK man, it doesn't sound too bad then.  USD7!  It could be that they didn't realise you are missing a vaccine or a test or something like that.  Still, good luck!!

Understood. I was told to come back to the hospital where the medical was completed so we'll see. Thank you.
