It's hard for anyone to help you if you don't have a timeline, and we don't even know which country you're from. In Moscow you have to pay $100 at the interview, when the CO instructs you to. You should put this question in the Embassy/Consulate thread...Good Luck.

the fee of $100 is the application fee for a nonimmigrant visa. the fees for an immigrant visa ( IR/CR) are different.

Fees - How Much Does It Cost?

Fees are charged for the following services:

Filing an immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, form I-130

Processing an immigrant visa application, for DS-230

Reviewing an I-864, Affidavit of Support (for petitions filed in the United States )

Medical examination (costs vary from place to place)

Fingerprinting fees, if applicable

I beleive the fees are around $380. if you paid the fees to the NVC, I don't think there is an additional visa fee to be paid at the Embassy. someone correct me if I'm wrong
