My AOS interview is this Thursday morning (9-24-20) in Boise, Idaho and I'm starting to get nervous. I have a huge binder with everything in it.

1. All K-1, Affidavit of Support, and AOS paperwork I've ever sent/received

2. Proof of income (my and hubby's paystubs/letter of employment/last year tax returns)

3. Mine, my hubby's, and my children's birth certificates/passports/social security cards

4. Our certified copy of marriage certificate and my divorce decree from previous husband

5. A few pictures of our wedding and us together since he's moved here

6. Deed from our house we bought together, utility bills with our names on it

Anything I'm missing or need/should add? What have been the typical questions asked lately? Any tips? Thank you!!

That all sounds great.  Ours was 1/30/2020 in Seattle - right before COVID hit here at ground zero, so it was a normal face-to-face interview.

The officer went through the original I-485 to update info that had changed.  He did actually want to look at the wedding photos we had brought.  We each have two (grown/mostly grown) kids, and he asked my husband for all of their names and birthdates.

Definitely print out a new I-94.  We didn't know to do this, and husband had been across the border twice into BC.  The officer took photocopies of the passport stamps in lieu of this.

Husband was asked for address of employer's HQ, which he didn't have, lol.  It was quickly found by the officer on the Goog.

The officer took notes and typed into the computer.  Overall, it went well

Don't freak out if you don't get a decision straight away.  In fact, I think it took about 3 weeks for us to get the 'new card is being produced' message on the website.

They didn't request anything else or question anything - our field office is just one of those that takes > one year even to get an interview.  I'm sure the backups are even worse now since they were closed temporarily.

I had my AOS interview 2.5 years ago in Boise, and it was a pleasant experience. Nice and friendly interviewing officer just went over the I-485 with us, checked if everything was correct, took notes of changes in our situation (my husband had changed jobs and I had started working). She asked if we had any new evidence we wanted to submit, and we gave her a few things. And that was it!

Good luck!

Oh that's good! My husband has changed jobs but I have all his paystubs!

Thank you!! I do have all his I-94's but he hasn't gone anywhere since he's moved here. I hope we get the answer the same day but I'm so impatient lol.

So did I but on the checklist, it says to bring all documents ever received and sent to USCIS. I'm just bringing everything just in case.

Sounds ridiculous, right? Just like the K1 interview - I brought everything they asked for and they looked at less than half of it :p

Well, I will bring it, even if I think it's nonsense. But I definitely don't want to be denied or get delays because I didn't bring sth they asked me to bring. Just hang it there, it will get better!

Yes, it is ridiculous. I'm ready to be done dealing with immigration already lol. But we still have the ROC and then actual citizenship. Hopefully it all goes by fast!

At leasst you're not alone in this and believe me, immigration is a topic in other countries, too, not just the US. Hopefully our actual lives get affected as little as possible by all that BS.

Good luck!

Don't forget to bring copies and the original though I would suspect they may be willing to make copies of originals.

You do not need to bring all that stuff, but ask me about the Mrs. divorce decree, submitted during the I-129F, and how well that went during the ROC interview. Luckily I had all the stuff, including copies, in my folder (Or as my wife used to call it "his security blankie"). it took seconds to correct instead of days or weeks. Also she stopped calling it my blankie after that event.

I have a question about the AOS interview. They separated my spouse and I for the interview today. Everything seems to have gone well but we have no idea if we got approved or not. How long does it take after interview to know if one got approved or not? When do I need to call USCIS if my case status hasn’t been updated and I still don’t have any information from them?
