We never had a honeymoon because we were dirt poor. One day, we may actually make up for this as things are finally starting to look better in that department. I always thought that going to Iceland at midsummer would be a neat way to spend a romantic vacation. Forget Paris, give me Reykjavík!

That's on our list of places to visit as well. It's somewhere we've both wanted to go for a looooong time.

We thought about Europe, but we already had our Parisian romance, and we were worried about getting AP, so we went to Hawaii. It was gorgeous and tropical, but we didn't just sit on the beach all day, either. We went sightseeing and shopping, too.

Even if you want a more tropical honeymoon, you can pick a place that has some cool history and cultural sights and get the best of both worlds (i.e., Greece, Turkey, Brazil, Thailand). Man, this is making me want to travel!

Where did you / will you honeymoon??

The beach is very important to me, so the hotter the better in my eyes (need something by the water to relax..)

However, he burns easy and get uncomfortable in the scorching heat and is dying to go back to Europe (I've never been)

and would love to go to Paris (he's such the little romantic, gotta love him)!

I think it's a bit cliche but I'm sure it'd be the experience of a lifetime..

He says we can always go to a beach.. be it hawaii, jamaica, punta cana etc, ... you don't always go to paris..

If you really think about it you can do both, why dont you go to the beach in a eropean destination! Maybe you can go to the French Riviera, or Portugal or Spain they all have nice beaches. I must warn you the water in erope is not warm as it is here and also they have pebbled beaches not so much sand beaches so that is a downer. But all in all its always good to get out and explor the world. This way you can kill two birds with one stone.

Also if your looking for a less expensive honeymoon, you could go south of the border to Mexico. The beaches down there are incredible and the weather starting Oct and onward is really nice plus all the tourists are gone, so that is also a plus. During the the fall season the tempeture in Cancun is not scortching hot but its warm enough to enjoy the beach. Hope it helps.

To me, tropical is overdone...loads of people do it. And because I'm not a heat and bright sunshine person, we chose Finland in the summer. We had the midnight sun and there was so much to see and do. We even took a helicopter flight over to Estonia and that was FABULOUS. I'd always want to do a trip that was a little more adventurous and interesting over one that's just lying around on a beach. Also I find that spots on the beach, which are aimed at tourists give you a LOT LESS of the local culture. I want to soak that up when I'm someplace I've never been and feel like I'm not somewhere that could be just about anywhere.
