I know where I stand with the mountain lions and the yeti. It is fair for something to get me if it is a highly developed mammal with claws and teeth. It is totally cheating to be made out of what is essentially snot and be lethal.

We actually had our honeymoon before the wedding

We hadn't seen each other in 8 months when I travelled to Brazil for my (now) husband's visa visa interview. Neither one of us is from Rio and I hadn't been there for years - and him never...so it was perfect.

We went to the beach and relaxed, spent some time in the hotel, went sightseeing, snorkeling,

everything newlyweds do ;) . So...it was our honeymoon.

We don't have much time or money now, and my husband decided not to apply for the AP, so we'll leave the country later on...

Well, Kraken have teeth, and lots of tentacles...not sure about claws, though...

I'm not a big 'beach' person -- I burn easily and I come away looking terrible and feeling icky. I MUCH prefer places with great things to see/do -- i.e. explore a city, visit a ruin, etc. When I go someplace, I like to see/do things that I can see ONLY in that place. My feeling is "why spend so much money to sit on a beach when I can do that 10 minutes from my house for $20?" which is why *I* would prefer somewhere in Europe or, like... India or China or something.

My husband likes site-seeing/exploring too, but he also really likes the beach, so we're compromising and we're thinking about going to either the Yucatan or Belize for our honeymoon, so we can spend some time at the beach but also explore some Mesoamerican sites/cool cities, etc.

Later that year, when I have a longer vacation, we plan to go to Italy and to visit his parents in Albania, which is why we're not going there for the honeymoon.

We never had a honeymoon because we were dirt poor. One day, we may actually make up for this as things are finally starting to look better in that department. I always thought that going to Iceland at midsummer would be a neat way to spend a romantic vacation. Forget Paris, give me Reykjavík!

Well, we will be doing the honeymoon before the wedding also, because of AP. We're having a religious ceremony and celebration in Germany with his family before we fly back to the states for the legal wedding. We're talking about going to Prague for our pre-honeymoon because once we leave Europe and start our life together in the US it will be a while before we can afford to fly back. Neither one of us has been to Prague and we're both fascinated by it. I'd also like to go to Paris for a bit, but I'm hoping we can swing that over Christmas while I'm there.

Really, I don't think it matters where you go as long as you both are happy with it and can enjoy being together.
