I see no one posting about doing a K1 interview recently.

I have seen numerous people say they were denied an expedited Interview due to their medical exam expiring in 30 days or less on FB.

What say you wise ones of VJ

I wrote to the Embassy on Monday and still waiting for a reply, if ever one will come.  I did get a long auto-reply with instructions but nothing to what I was inquiring about.

I asked for an expedited interview for our K1 based off my son not attending school.  I gave the background that I had only left the Philippines to return to the US for my sons schooling and that I would not put him in a school for the meantime in the PI.  My rational was with me working, my fiance not able to work for at least the first 6 months she could help my son do his schooling in the US as they are doing a hybrid model of remote and in-person classes.  This is for the 2nd grade.  I did go into details if he was here in the US with just myself, I cannot do my job as well as assist with his schooling.  The organization I work with is one of the organizations with a COVID vaccine in Phase 3 and although I am not a doctor/scientist etc, I do have to move these people into and out of different countries as the manufacturing/distribution will not all be done in the US and its going to be extremely busy soon.  The letter we received to make an interview appointment was February 24th 2020.

That was my explanation and whether it works or not, I dont know.  :)  I did tell them the truth and provided supporting documents including my sons PI and US passports, CBRA, and a letter from my employer.  Its not about seeing my fiance, its more on my sons schooling.  If they do not come back by next month, I have been given approval from my employer to fly back to Manila in November and stay there until the interview.  From a selfish point of view, thats fine for me, however it is not helping my son and he may have to miss the school year if this drags until June of next year which is entirely possible.

Im concerned a local will pick up that email and just ignore it so if there is no reply, I will try and get a hold of a US officer since that has worked in the past in that Embassy.

Ill mail in the documents for my visa in a few weeks and will post how that process goes as well as the eventual trip back.  All I know is that its awful back there now with little to no personal freedoms.  Most of the things being done are proven not to work but they still do it.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

Classes are still remote in most places, so kids can get online anywhere. The problem is the time difference means the US based classes would start at midnight in Phils.

Exactly, that was a point I brought up as well as he would have to attend school from 730pm to 330am.  The bigger issue is he cannot register as a new student unless he is in the US. :)  The district has told me they need him to come into the school.  They have volunteered to draft a letter if I need it on their requirements.

We will see what happens.  Im expecting no reply from the Embassy and then Ill just head back there and have my son tutored in the 2nd grade curriculum.  Its more about him not falling behind then anything else and I still think he is behind after the 1st grade.  Its why I uprooted everything to return to the US.  I lost complete patience when 50% of the time was dedicated to singing and dancing, and this was a private school.  Public schools dedicate even more time.  There were weeks where they had no school at all in order to prepare for a play.  These type of activities are normally done after-school hours in the US, but there they just cancel classes for it.  Singing is more important then math and dancing is more important than science :)  This was at Olivarez college in Paranaque.

I did send a follow up email to the Embassy on 28 September but I have not received any replies or acknowledgements, which I was expecting to not get.  Next week Ill send in my documents for the PI Visa and will fly back probably on Thanksgiving.  Ill apply for the 1 year visa just so I dont have to keep reapplying in the future.  Since I cannot have my son miss an entire school year, we are considering tutoring him ourselves based on the school curriculum in the US or since I have PR status in Singapore, going back there and putting him in school.

Ill post the process I followed for the visa and any difficulties, plus the travel process.  The smart thing to do is the direct flight from NY to Manila on PAL but that ticket is only good for 3 months.  There is also a BOS to DOHA to MNL on Qatar Airlines where the ticket is good for a year, but it would go against my own advice of not connecting through any countries.  Ticket prices are ranging from $830 to about $1100 round trip.

They issued 43 K1 visas in August 2020, so some people are getting through.

But we don't see anybody recently posting here about getting an expedited K1.  We were getting some reports them doing them last month on VJ.

Seems like the last few weeks I keep seeing stuff on social media, mostly FB saying they are being denied now with medical expiring in less than 30 days.

Nobody knows except for the embassy employees.

This couple just got a K1 approval on 10-1 in Manila.

By my rough calculations, this site only has 1% of all cases. It's a very small fraction of all applicants.

41 K1 visas were approved in September in Manila (14 K2s). You can request an expedite from NVC. That's the only way that these K1 applicants are getting an interview.

Again, I don't care about what was happening in the past as in September.

I want numbers for October and November, that is when they have seemed to no longer allow expedited for K1's.

I agree they were doing them in September.

They release the numbers for the previous month during the last few days of the current month. Oct numbers will be released around Nov 28.
