Hi everyone! I had my interview rescheduled back in April due to COVID, and while we were waiting for our new date, we received the surprise that we were approved without an interview and received my work permit (and travel permit) AND my green card!! Of course we were so excited and couldn’t believe it. Fast forward to last month, we received in the mail a new date for our interview. Obviously we were so confused given that I already have my GC in hand??? So I called USCIS million times and everyone says different things (go to the interview, there must be a glitch, etc) so I don’t know what to do??? The interview is on Thursday and while we have everything we need for it (since I already prepared the package for our interview back in April) I’m not sure what to do??? Any advice would help, thanks!!

It might be a glitch and you might get a call from the Field Office telling you that:

If they don't call, you should go to the interview.

They may  call you like they did us a day before the interview. If that is the case my advise is to go ANYWAY! Once you get there show them your GC and then make sure someone there signs on your interview  NOA that you showed up but it was cancelled because you already have your GC. Always CYA. That's  what I did, but of course  the choice is yours. Either way with a call or without I would show up to CYA!

Hahaha, isn't USCIS jsut wonderful?

Congratulations on your GC! The advice you got from others sounds good to me - I would go to the interview and explain to them what happened. Hopefully they won't confiscate your GC ;)

@Jo&Ryan

Hi, when do you have the interview? I'm curious to hear how it went if you would keep us posted :)

Update: it was indeed an error and the lady at the office was so embarrassed I felt so bad for her!! She checked and came out saying “well, congratulations, you’re approved!”. Lol. I was ready to be pissy with whoever was at the desk but she was so nice and apologetic I felt so bad. Definitely no regrets since now I don’t have to worry about it anymore, and we laughed the whole way back ☺️
