The owner of a bar in Florida has outright banned any patrons from wearing masks or face coverings amid the COVID-19 pandemic, saying he doesn’t “agree” with the idea.

Gary Kirby, the owner of Westside Sports Bar and Lounge in West Melbourne, told Fox News that he's been getting death threats for prohibiting masks at his establishment but claimed that the people in his town have "for the most part been in 100% support" of his decision.

“I personally don’t agree with it. So that’s why I made the decision to… I don’t want them here,” added Kirby in a previous an interview with Fox 35 Orlando.

His patrons' non booze related health isn't really his problem anyways... so he's absolutely right. It's not the best optics but I understand he's likely fed up of the mask stupidity and I can't blame him.

I was also gonna say he's probably got more mask problems of the Antifa type than the kung flu.. then I read the rest of the article.. 😂

More businesses are going to be flouting clearly draconian and stupidly non health related shutdowns and other selectively enforced mandates. I'm confident freedom prevails.

Places have tried that here. They have shut a few down, but mostly businesses are just making themselves a source of revenue for the city. Masks are not optional here ATM though. IDK about Florida.

Since 1 March, our country has had a mask mandate that includes a $100 fine for non-compliance.  The next county to the north?  The police and sheriff are not allowed to hassle people over masks.

Not that I am a bar person, and his bar is rather far from me, but I applaud the stance.

I guess that's the difference here. The mask order is statewide and applies to all public venues and transportation. I read the other day that 5 business were closed in August for repeated violation and tickets were in the 100's. It's a weird battle to pick if you ask me. People don't have to like it, but it is the law at the moment.

Sorry, that was supposed to be county, not country.

Yes, I believe our mask mandate IS statewide, but the rules are obviously enforced differently all over.  When I was up in the panhandle back in May, no masks anywhere.  Down here, no one seems to be fighting the use of masks (I mean, if a store requires it, then they require it.  It just sucks that politicians are forcing stores to comply), but different counties/cities choose to enforce it differently.  Hopefully all this unnecessary drama will be over soon and we can all get back to living our lives as we did in 2019.

Won't be over soon, unfortunately.  No mask, no vaccine, no real distancing in most places.  The latest report we received at work does predict that Americans will not be able to travel internationally to most locations until spring 2022... Far East, Canada, Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand show expected return to normal traveling in July 2021. I hope they're wrong.

It's Bush's Trump's fault.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Interested to know why do you applaud?

The bar owner might PERSONALLY disagree and is entitled his opinion. However, as he owns a places where people gather, there's involvement of interest in well-being of more than just himself.

Hmm, seems this has been mentioned before.  They also seem to ignore that the virus may have become less deadly through mutation.

"But the uptick in cases hasn’t translated to an increase in deaths. Europe reported 252 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, as compared to the thousands of daily deaths that were common in mid-March, at the height of the pandemic. This could be attributed to the combination of younger patients becoming infected now, increased testing of asymptomatic patients and better treatment options available, according to NBC News."

My step daughter and her husband (a Brit) and annoying kids have spent the last two months in the UK staying with his parents.  They fly out later this week, several weeks earlier than they planned, because they understand another lock down is imminent and they don't want to get stuck there.

They spent from March 22 to July 10 mooching, err, I mean living with us to "avoid" COVID and being confined to their tiny Boston apartment.

They wanted to come back and live with us for another 3 months BUT my wife told them NO!

My sister-in-law-to-be is flying out this week to spend 15 days in Mexico quarantining before spending 2 months out here in SoCal. Looks like she timed it just right, purely by chance. Apparently they are having toilet paper shortages in Scotland, she has asked us to ship their mum a pallet.
