We applied in August 2018 he was a PR then and now he just received his American Citizenship this year.

Congrats on that! So you upgraded your request from an F2A to a IR1/CR1? I mistakingly thought the IR1/CR1 was for both US citizens and PRs, but I got corrected :)

Hope all the best for you and your husband in getting an interview soon.

I phoned comissionaires today and they confirmed either or is acceptable. Mine being direct from rcmp thats normal. The comissionaires ones say other.

On my Commissionaires request form, it says “Others - RCMP National Repository entire holdings.” and the cert still says "Other (Provide Details)"

Does the A-Number start with an "A" or is it only numbers? Is it the registration number on the visa stamp? My registration number doesn't start with an A

Interesting, appreciate the clarification. I was always under the impression that the IR1/CR1 was for US citizens as well as LPRs.

The USCIS process and USCIS forms (i-130) are the same but the wait time and visa category are different. I thought the same thing when I started this process.

Mine is just numbers too.

Yes we sent in the naturalization certificate and it got upgraded to CR1 and after our two year anniversary in August it automatically changed to IR1. Yes I hope so! I haven’t seen him since January 2020 and my DQ was June 4, 2020. So, just trying to stay sane and patient. 🥺

A K1 applicant just posted in the FB group that they got an interview scheduled for Nov 18th. I’m honestly so upset right now. I thought that date would be saved for spousals. That means Fiancés got priority and were scheduled 2x that week (Nov 16 & 18). Clearly, Montreal doesn’t consider spousal priority. If they don’t schedule Nov 23rd and 25th for spousals and give it to fiancés, I’m seriously going to lose my mind! SO FRUSTRATING!

According to the spreadsheet there were 2 other K1 that got interviews for the 18th today too...

it doesn't matter whether or not they are getting interviews. we are not. K1's getting an interview doesn't make a difference in my situation. if they are scheduling new k1's maybe we will get some new ones next week is my hope. But I don't understand why it matters if they are being scheduled or not. There isn't some rule it has to be us or them even if the consulate is making it seem like it is.

It’s really not a big deal in my situation as I was fortunate to keep my job after moving. Not that you need the physical SSN card to work, but employers are not always familiar with this situation and I hear some are a little reluctant to hire you without it.

Also it gives me an excuse to postpone bothering to go get my DL 🙃 I’ve got my health insurance sorted out and it was the only really urgent thing to take care of.

You're right about employer familiarity with the passport visa.  People just have to print the I-9 instructions when they present it.

You just need your stamped visa for your DL.  Dunno what state you're in, but DPS here in TX is booking months in advance for appointments.  Luckily, they gave me an 8 year license when all was said and done!

It matters to me. If they are being ‘fair’ in scheduling, both categories should receive an equal share of interview slots. If we get 2 slots the week after, that would be fair. If we don’t get anything and they schedule K1s rest of the month, I see that as unfair and prioritizing that category over spousals. Maybe it will balance out ahead, who knows. Currently, it is frustrating for me to see. My personal opinion/view.

I agree and it’s definitely an issue when we haven’t seen a CR1/IR1 in how many days/weeks now? it’s pretty much November.  January and February DQ’s have been waiting an additional 11 months now, with no interviews in sight.  Those of us who are May, June, July - that means we won’t see interviews until March, April, May - if we’re lucky. They’ve prioritized K1’s over CR1/IR1 before; let’s hope it doesn’t happen again.
