@DGF new week starting soon let’s pray for some good news.

Yes! Heading back to Canada today and hoping I'll be back in 2-3 months max. It's been 6 years of long distance and leaving never got easier 🤷‍♀️

About Montreal becoming an orange zone, they keep specifically talking about places of leisure (bars, restaurants) and private gatherings, so I’m staying hopeful they’re not just going to shut everything down! Which would make sense in my opinion.

Them being an orange zone is definitely nerve wracking, especially since we're still 6-ish weeks out at the earliest, but I agree and I think they would need really bad numbers in order to justify shutting down more than just the areas where they're seeing spread because we now know how detrimental shutting everything down is.

We leveled up to an IR1 application today!  Trying to stay positive that the end is nearing.

Congratulations and happy anniversary!

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

Thank you everyone!

My interview process was painless.  It went much like others have stated in the past.  Don't arrive early, they won't let you into the building until your appointment time, possibly a minute or 2 ahead that is all.  The man who looks after the door isn't super friendly. :)  They scan you and your contents before sending you to the first floor immigration room.  As you would expect they are particular about masks and social distancing in the consulate.  They first time they called me up they just asked for the stated required documents, nothing else.  Passport, passport photo, birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce if applicable, medical ( I gave them my old one even though they received a second one electronically) police certificate, I-864.  Then I was asked to sit back down and wait for my name to be called for the interview.  My interview was at 10:30, an hour after my documents were taken.  My interviewer, was friendly, said ,"you must be really happy to finally be here, we are too, it's been a long time!" .  He only asked me 3 questions, 1, how did I meet my husband. 2. when did I meet my husband 3. What was the longest time you have stayed in the USA.  (3 months during COVID)  He said everything looks great, he then got up and got me a "Welcome to the USA" letter and said that the Visa would take about a week.   He seemed on high speed, didn't seem to care about any details!

Thank you all so very much for your help and support along this journey!  God Bless you all in your upcoming interviews and new lives in the United States.

Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing that it really helps hearing the different scenarios!

That's true. My goal with the FAQ is to be as helpful as possible to as many people as possible so I figured I'd do a check in to see if continued maintenance would be helpful or not.

That being said, if anyone is interested in helping please let me know! I don't need any help yet (it really isn't time consuming keeping it up to date, just a few minutes here and there) but I will likely be taking a bit of a break from VJ after I move so I would love to have someone in place to maintain it when I can't.

I'd be glad to help when you take a break, @DGF ☺️

I wish I had good news like everyone that has had interviews or had their interview today. The interview portion was painless and quick. I had all and extra documents. Everything was going amazing until the end when he told me he couldnt approve my visa today and gave me no further information. TO say I feel shattered is an understatement.

Did they keep your passport?

I'm so sorry to hear this...he didn't give you any reason at all why he wouldn't approve you??

Omg I'm so sorry 😢  At what point did he say that? At the interview stage, or really at the end when everything was done? Did they tell you any next step?

Right at the end. Everything had gone perfect. I don’t understand.

:( So he just told you that and then you had to leave? It's so strange, especially if they kept your passports. I'm so sorry.
