I have a question regarding the medical and interview.

Do I have to have the medical sent to the consulate before they will allow me to do the interview? I thought you did.

But I've seen several people say they were given a 221g form after the interview because they did not have their medical sent in yet.

I think I read this can add weeks/or months to the processing time, but If I was ok with this would I be ok to schedule my medical a day or two before the interview and accept the 221g form? I live in Calgary and I'd honestly rather make one trip to Montreal to do both in a few days.

Its ideal to have the medical before the interview.  I was in Calgary as well with my 2 kids.  We went to Montreal and did our medical at Medysis, got our results 4 days later and interviewed the following week.  We stayed in Montreal for 7 days.

Congrats! It seems to be common practice for them to release ILs for the spouse and ILs for the associated child with a delay between them. I think I remember that happening to @mam521 and @Canada+2USA.  If that is the case probably a worthy addition to the FAQ.

Yep - I think my kid actually got his first and then my daughter and I the following day.  I don't remember anymore.  But I'm not gonna lie, I did have a heart attack moment!

Hey guys, so I immigrated last week Monday and I can not even tell you how frustrating it is to try to open a bank account in this country. I just tried opening an account with Ally online, and that didn't work out. My husband can't even get me added to his accounts. Is there anyone here who has already immigrated that could share info what they did? Chase bank won't accept the temporary green card in my passport, and the Credit Union my husband is part of as a teacher also won't even accept an ACTUAL green card as ID, they need state ID, which I can't get without my SSN. And sadly I'm in a complicated situation with the SSN because I have one with my maiden name from years ago when I was in school in the US but with covid and all the SSA offices closed in our city I can't get an appointment to get my name changed on my card.  If anyone can give direction or point me to another thread on banking in the US that would be great. I'm starting to get frustrated.

You could try cross border banks like TD to see if they would give you an american account.

Seems weird to me that you can't get added to your husband's accounts - I added my wife to my accounts at the beginning of the year before we even started the I-130 and that wasn't an issue. If the issue though is with your SSN (we used my wife's ITIN when adding her to my account) then I suspect you'll have to resolve that first, as that's outside of the bank's control.

I got added to my wife’s accounts last week.  Wells Fargo ...without an SSN.

Bank of America they let my Canadian cousins open an account as well and my husband was able to get onto my account and he still living in Canada. You just need to take your passport

It's just Chase Bank I think - they won't accept my passport with the Visa as ID. I will try some of the others mentioned.
