On an average (post & pre-Covid), and by looking at the tracking sheet, it looks like the consulate sends between 10 and 20 ILs per month, is that a correct assumption? It'll be interesting to see what their capacity is since they resumed their operations and started to schedule new interviews again.
On a side note, congrats to all of those who received IL today! What a relief it must be, and it feels good to read some positive news given the circumstances.

I looked up how many immigrant visa Montreal had issued in January of this year and for the IR-1/CR-1 they issued around 80 visas.

I wonder how many people are in the que waiting for an appointment?

FEB.2020 was around 120 IR-1/CR-1 visas issued.

I hope I am wrong but looks like its a 9 month wait from once DQ to interview unless things really pick up.

Not everyone who is waiting for interviews is on this site or on the tracking sheet, so 10-20 is much lower than the actual number they do.

Thanks for the reminder. I tend to forget that the majority of people might not use VisaJourney or timeline.

I could be wrong, but I believe @DGF ran the numbers a few months ago and it seemed like it was approx 15% are on visa journey.

I know!  It's astonishing haha.  This group has been our mental savior for the last several months.

Well I picked up my passport with my visa in it the consulate this morning.

Last week I had confirmed with USCBP that they would allow me to activate my visa and turn around back to Canada (Johnston crossing in Ontario at Prescott) and they had no issue. I had also physically gone to the CBSA to confirm they wouldn't have me quarantine since I wasn't really going into the US as such.

When I pulled up to the window he asked me a couple fo questions, then had me pull into secondary. The officer was very friendly and was just a bit confused why I was activating my visa but not officially moving until later this month. After about 10 minutes another agent came out with my passport and my stamp, letting me know that it would serve as my temporary green card until it would arrive in the mail.

Going through Canadian customs was another story - they started taking my email and then I said 'I was here last week and I was told I wouldn't have to quarantine' he told me that had changed.. I said...'since last week??!'. Needless to say I ended up pulled over with two public health nurses asking about my quarantine plan, that I obviously hadn't planned. They didn't care that I was gone for 20 minutes to activate my visa and that the USCBP had told me they could call to confirm....

They told me they received a memo yesterday that everyone who leaves Canada, even for 30 seconds must quarantine. I called him on it 'A memo on Thanksgiving...really?!'

So anyway...I'm quarantining now..

Yes, it’s almost a 9-10 month wait for an interview. It all depends on how quickly they move forward to address their backlog. I’m happy they have started to resume new interviews, but I only saw about 5 people be scheduled from VJ on our spreadsheet for Nov. In the past, there were about 15-25 folks scheduled in a batch every month on our VJ sheet, so that 5 number looks very low. Maybe they will send out a larger batch of emails tomorrow! Let’s see!

This seems so arbitrary and totally missing the point of requiring the quarantine.  If you were in the Vancouver area I'd offer to pick stuff up if you needed.  Stay somewhat entertained, I've been on that 14 day cruise on S.S. Small Apartment and that was the biggest thing.

This was the ####### I was dealing with.  I was going to arrange for someone to bring my car to the border so I could import it from Canada to the US.  It's not a concern at the moment as the vehicle was stolen and it's pretty destroyed.  But, I risked being told I wasn't allowed to enter Canada, especially if I didn't have a quarantine plan.  Talk about ridiculous.
