FYI the Purolator service the consulate uses for premium delivery does not deliver on Saturdays. Bummer! Not a huge deal, but I was hoping to fly on Sunday and my passport will “only” get here on Monday between 8am and 9pm. Good to know for Wednesday interviewees.

It looks like the consulate issued 34 IR1/CR1 visas in August, but there is only 1 on the spreadsheet.

There are more visas out in this world than visa-seeking people on VJ, which is the primary source for spreadsheet data.

That article was last updated in June. Let's share current news here instead :)

https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/canada-changing-travel-restrictions-to-allow-more-families-to-reunite-1.5130094

Here is the updated version from today.  I think that's what the person you replied to was meaning to post.  TLDR is that the exemption coming north is expanded to include extended family, and there's some student exemptions.  14 day quarantine still applies.

Not sure if this should be in this thread but some good news on loosening US/Canada land border crossings. 14 day mandatory quarantine in Canada still applies.  https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/cross-border-families-can-now-reunite-under-new-exemption-1.4974140

https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/canada-changing-travel-restrictions-to-allow-more-families-to-reunite-1.5130094

I think this is what you were referring to - it was posted today. There's not much new here aside from "loosening" the restrictions around who can visit a Canadian, which will now include "extended family members of Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents, including those in an exclusive dating relationship of at least one year and their dependent children, as well as adult children, grandchildren, siblings and grandparents can come to Canada." The same 14-day mandatory quarantine rules apply though.

Curious to know whether the US land borders will similarly follow suit sometime soon to allow spouses to visit.

I think this has unofficially been the case for a little while. My sister crossed last Saturday to visit her boyfriend - she's still in quarantine at the moment.

From what I understand, it doesn’t apply to temporary residents, right...? :(

I had only submitted 1040 as well and also approved.  Would be nice to know definitively earlier than later what is truly needed.

Finally able to hop on the desktop, which makes browsing VJ so much easier.

Found this:

"Either include (IRS tax transcript) or (1040 copy, W2 and all schedules). Your joint sponsor's tax return transcrips can be downloaded from IRS online."

Side note: I am not sure how reliable this is. It was from a member with 6,000 + replies, and he seemed to know his stuff. I looked everywhere for an official source or instructions but cannot seem to find them for our specific situations.

*Update: also need to bring last pay stub to show current income, for joint-sponsor and their household member each.

Hey guys I have a question for y’all. If I have the 1040 forms of my two co-sponsor is that enough or I really need their W2? I never uploaded their W2 to NVC and was still approved. The last W2 I uploaded was for my husband for 2016 as he haven’t been/worked in the USA since then. He worked here in Canada on a student visa. So should I request my sponsors the W2 or their 1040 forms should be enough?

how recent of a paystub? Our joint sponsor was recently laid off but my wife now has a full time job. But had not used it when we submitted since she hadn’t started at the time.

They want to know the source of revenue you used to sponsor the beneficiary is still incoming. It sounds like they want the most recent possible? Maybe someone who has had an interview would have more insight.

@rafale1973 @bort_s

From the I-864a instructions:

"if you provide a photocopy of your tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every FormW-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your returns rather than a photocopy unless you filed a joint Federal income tax return with your spouse."

Mine filed jointly so even though NVC did not ask for it, I will be bringing the Tax Return Transcript, W-2s, and last pay stub for joint-sponsor and household member.

Wishing we could have used our Canadian Income + U.S. job offer to qualify instead of having to bother the joint sponsors all over again 😏

Form 1099 are not required to be filed. I have the 1040 of each my co-sponsor and I’ll make sure to ask for their W2

Now that I think about it, I already have those form for my husband from last time he worked in the USA. I just need my co-sponsor W2 to prove they still have income, I shouldn’t be worried as I have 3 people sponsoring me in total ahhha
