No, you can't unfortunately.

You must own it and if you have a lease, it will not be accepted either.

Generally speaking you won't be able to import a car with a lien because you don't actually own the car. Whomever you pay for the loan actually owns it. You don't officially own your car until you pay off the loan.

This is also to ensure you don't sell the car without paying the entire amount owing of the loan.

We intend to bring our car to the US and we checked with our dealership/financing department, and they informed us that the US customs won't let us import our car if it has a loan on it.

How would they know. They told me they need the stickers that say EPA certified and DOT certified in US

They'll need to see the title to prove ownership of the vehicle. If there's a lien on the title you won't be able to import it.

Because it's on your registration and they can run the VIN to see if there is a lien on the car.  You will run into issues when you try to register it in the US.

Do you really want to start your life in the US together with violating financial agreements and potentially breaking import laws?  If you can't get a personal loan to cover it, sell the car and buy one in the States.

It's not just the border you have to worry about, it's the state you're attempting to register it in, too.

It's a felony to falsify the information regarding the lien.  You could potentially lose a green card with a felony.

I hope they finish up today and send out dates to nvc today and send them to us. That would be an ideal situation lol

Looking at the K1 reschedule thread, it looks like the interviews originally scheduled for April received new interview dates today for October. So hopefully back to IR-1 visas very soon!

What’s the latest April date they scheduled? The excel won’t open on my phone for some reason

The spreadsheet only gets updated in the evenings, but based on comments in this thread the latest April date confirmed to be rescheduled is April 23.

It's not updated yet but based on Facebook comments they only have April 29th left to schedule (for safety's sake let's assume they also have some from the 21st left). They're fitting them on random days and haven't even touched October 28th yet which gives them another full day, so it really seems like they're trying to get them done by the end of October.

Let’s see. They probably won’t reschedule anything tomorrow since it’s Friday

One thing about this process that I’m now realising is that the obsessing never ends. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I used to be obsessed with checking my emails for my NOA2, then for my NVC case number, then for DQ, then for IL... you get the picture. It got even worse this summer just waiting for things to start moving again. I had such a hard time focusing on anything else.

So anyway, I thought I’d relax once I was told I was approved, but then yesterday I was still worried about my visa not actually being issued. Now that it’s in the final processing I keep checking for the tracking number 🙃 it just drives you nuts. Well it depends on your personality type too, my husband has been pretty chill through the past 2.5 years but I’m just an obsessive person lol.

I've had times where I am and times where I'm not. I was obsessed in April looking at Noa2 dates since mine was coming up. I've been checking forums more then normal right now because I'm really curious to see what happens in November and how that extrapolates in to how long I have to wait. I'm pretty chill most of the time but near dates of action ita harder to be.

These stickers prove that the vehicle meets safety and environment standards. It has nothing to do with the ownership or financing.

You need to prove that you own the car you'll bring into the US. As far as I know, the proof of ownership includes the title for the vehicle, a certified copy of the title, the bill of sale, a letter from the loaner that the vehicle is fully paid and does not carry any outstanding balance, foreign registration.
