New visa issuance stats are out, Montreal issued 32 IR1 visas in August! And only 2 CR1 but I guess that's because most of us level up during the wait.

We’ll get there eventually. But that’s starting to look good slowly

To save money, we just went straight to Montreal and had everything done there.  There typically isn't much time between when you get your interview and a chance to schedule the medical, especially if your PD is "older".  I think I had 10 days all told after receiving our interview date.  We had immigration medicals at Medisys on a Tuesday, results picked up Friday and consulate interviews the Monday.

Flying YYC to YVR, medical, YVR back to YYC, to turn around and go to YUL was too much of a headache when we actually thought about it and that was before tons of flights were being canceled because of covid.

That said, Medisys has been having issues with phones and internet connections this past month and I am sure someone can comment as to whether they finally got it sorted.

I haven't seen any real cases of people being turned away when activating the visa for the simple reason that you're considered a PR at that moment and countries are (re)patriating their own citizens and permanent residents.

I just had to stop and ask this question. Does NVC really look at PD dates when filling interview slots per batch/month? Curious as to how this works...

I was wondering the same

I emailed the immigration specialist who helped us submit our case initially and he said to use the DOS case number we always use. So without the extra 2 digits on the passport. So that’s what I did! Hopefully it all goes well with the green card down the line. We shall see. Either way I have the receipt printed and will keep it for my records. It shouldn’t have any impact on crossing the border at all regardless.

You need the W-2s if your sponsors file their taxes as "Married Filing Jointly" so that they can determine if the income listed on the 1040 is from the sponsor, or from their spouse. If the sponsor files as single, then you don't need W-2s.

Thanks for clarifying this important point.

Thx for sharing your experience.

It looks like one need to take a week off from work to have medical exam and interview in one take.

I will be flying from YEG whenever that time comes.

Sometimes I wish if they can designate at least one centre to have medical exams in AB.

Okay, just to be sure. I understand that if  my sponsor is filling their taxe as married that I need to join their W2 to distinguish their salary. Although do I still have to if my 2 sponsor are married to each other and I provided their joint 1040?

Since each sponsor is submitting their own I-864, they should include the W-2s.

So basically the Case Number in my passport on my visa is MTL plus 12 digits, after googling I believe it should only be 9 or 10 digits. Anyone else have this problem while trying to complete the Imigrant visa fee form to pay online?

They don't make this easy!  I stumbled through the same issues, then used the info on this page (see "Visa Stamp" section): https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/uscis-immigrant-fee/immigrant-fee-payment-tips-on-finding-your-a-number-and-dos-case-id

Patiently waiting for @DGF to get an interview date this Thursday. I am stuck in a job that I don't like and I was going to give my notice in March before the pandemic hit, but have been miserable for past 2 years. I was planning to give my notice after assessing the NVC interview dates, but this wait is just killing me. I am considering switching jobs at the moment because I got DQ'ed only in May 20 😢 and I can't wait to be stuck at a job I don't like for another 6months or a year . I feel like I'm losing it somedays especially when it rains in Vancouver 😭. Thanks to this group that keeps me a bit sane 🙏.

I'm with you! I was DQ'ed May 19. We'll get there - being a part of this group has helped me immensely. So thankful for the ongoing virtual support.

Perfect. That’s what I wound up doing in the end. We need that info in the FAQ 😁 cause mine has the extra two digits lol. Thank you for sharing!!! Confirmation feels good.

Well, my husband was in and out of his interview within an hour. As expected, because the medical results were not sent yet, he was denied (white sheet) pending getting those. The lady who interviewed him said as soon as they are emailed the results, they will mail his visa to him but did not say how long that might be. She asked him where we met, how long we have been together, the longest time he has stayed in the states, what I do for a living, and that's about it.

They did notice that our 2-year anniversary was on Monday so the visa issued will be IR-1. Will keep yall posted on progress of things. Husband is calling Zatzman's office now to find out when the results should be done. I am glad the interview is over & went well, and just hoping this medical delay does not set us back too far.

Glad everything worked out. Although I do believe that they are deceptive when they say "as soon as the results are received it will be quick". 60 days is quick to them.

Did they tell you 60 days? I agree it seems like a ridiculously long time. Hoping it will not be that long as there can't really be much of a paperwork backlog. My husband asked for a timeframe and she told him it should be handled quickly once received. Hoping for speedy results!
