Hi All,

I am new to VJ! I am US citizen, applied for CR1 visa for my spouse in Canada. Our case was recently DQ ( 8/11/2020). Any ideas when will we get an interview date at Montreal consulate?

Thanks!

It's really hard to tell right now. There are about 10-11 months of backlog, but we don't know yet how fast they'll work through people. Prior to covid they would clear roughly a month's worth of cases every month but until they start scheduling cases at the NVC again we won't know how fast they'll be working now.

I'm excited to see the Canada forum active and hope to see many new threads.

For your FAQ if you start a new thread for it I can get it pinned as I did have the outdated K1 FAQ removed. If possible I know it's hard but if you can keep the K1 and CR1 FAQ separate it helps members know where to look and keep from getting confused.

The more threads available for discussion for Montreal the better. We will always have members ask questions even with the FAQ pinned to the top but is will definitely help.

Currently, a few December 2019 DQ folks are still awaiting interviews! It’s going to take awhile as they sift through their backlog. Hopefully, by prioritizing spousal cases, they can move efficiently, but it will still take them awhile to get everyone scheduled. FYI my husband was DQ’ed Feb 2020 and case is still at NVC waiting for an interview date.

If you could pin the link to the IR-1/CR-1 FAQ document, that would be easiest. We're not dealing with K-1 issues in it, so no worries on overlap :)

I got document qualified on 8 july

Complete your timeline with *all* the pertinent dates of your case, and then use the "show similar timelines" feature of VJ.

This suggestion also pertains to @AnkitShah20.

Furthermore, follow the 2 links in my signature line for good information!

@Hawk Riders I have filled out the timelines with my dates. Also, how can I access the 2 links under your “signature line”?

You click on them. You may not see them if using a mobile browser; in that case use the "request desktop site" feature on your browser to reload the page. Or:

Hey everyone,

I am going through my binder and checklist for the 387927498234 time today. I want to clarify something. for the DS-260. Is the sheet with just the barcode ok? Or do I need to print off the whole thing?

The IL Email says to bring the complete DS-260 but people haven't been getting asked for it in their interviews apparently. I printed off the whole thing just in case. It was 11 pages. if you go to the end of it online there's a print button, and that gives a more compact version to print if you want.

@Ontarkie This is definitely the preferred solution in terms of keeping the thread from becoming outdated too quickly since I update the FAQ quite frequently but if it is not ok I can make a thread out of the FAQ as is. If that's required I'd leave the link out this time as I believe that is what got the last thread removed.

Last question everyone! Sorry, I am a nervous wreck! Back in February our truck got stolen with unfortunately all our passports. I have since then replaced it therefore we both have new passport numbers. I have emailed the consulate to make sure they can update it. Has anyone been in a situation where they had to replace your passport? Is updating the consulate sufficient? Can this delay the process in regards to getting your visa issued?

That would be preferred.  The pinned threads aren't generally locked and can be updated.  Mods and organizers have the ability to edit any of their old posts beyond the regular time limit.  Mods can also edit other's posts and threads so the initial post with the guide can continuously be updates provided we have members who are active in the thread.
