Tomorrow morning! Literally only moving an hour away in to our new home we just closed on❤️

Congratulations! Very happy for you and your family :)

Did you choose the premium delivery or the regular one? I wonder if either delivers on weekends.

Yes. K1 were interviewed on Wednesdays only pre-covid while spousal were Monday/Wednesday/Friday. It's actually pretty encouraging because based on what people are reporting in the Facebook group it's looking like they're getting through multiple weeks worth of interviews per day (they rescheduled the cancelled interviews from March 18th for October 19th and are now rescheduling the cancelled interviews from March 25th for October 19th too). If they can get through 2 weeks of backlog per day and they continue doing Monday/Wednesday interviews (of which there are 4 left in October) they might actually be done with rescheduling K1 by the end of October. Not going to get my hopes up yet, but it's encouraging so far.

I wonder if once the reschedules are done they move back to spousal. The way k-1 appointements are made is different so a bunch of cases are already at the consulate but never got to schedule their interviews in the first place. So that worries me that they will also move on to Those. Hopefully they can resume on alternate days for both visas.

Nope, I chose to pick it up at a Canada Post location. Im right in Montreal so maybe thats why it got to me really fast.

I wonder this too. K1 has a similar number of visa issuances (based on the stats) but are only interviewed 1 day a week vs the 3 that we need so they must be faster to interview. If they continue with scheduling only Monday/Wednesday after the reschedules then I hope they don't do alternate days because of how much faster they can interview K1. Maybe if we get 1.5 days and they get the other half day? Then at least the number of visas issued in each category should be relatively similar.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

Which border is allowing marriage visa entry? Sumas aldergrove or peace arch?

I'm wondering the same thing. I cross at Aldergrove every day, so I'll ask the booth agent tomorrow if they're allowing entry there (although I would guess there's a 50% chance they don't know). Given where my wife and I are at in the process and the current backlogs I suspect we won't get our visa until next June or July anyways, so it might be a moot point for us.

Let me know what they say! We wanna go thru that crossing as well!

For those that are too far away to move by car, what are you using to ship your belongings?

I have 4 suitcases only, I’m debating between: checking 2 in and shipping 2 via sendmybag ; pay a bit more and just bring everything with me on the plane. I don’t know how I feel about leaving half of my things to a company, for them to have to open the suitcases at customs, etc.

You might be able to get some discount at airport For baggage b/c technically your moving. Call the airline and ask how it works if your moving.

Our family just said goodbye to a much-welcomed Purolator driver who brought my wife's visa! :)  Here’s the case timeline from interview to visa-in-hand:

9/16/20 Interview (approved)

9/17/20 Case updated; CEAC status “Ready” (fine print: “Your case is ready to schedule an interview…” !!??)

9/21/20 Case updated; CEAC status not changed

9/22/20 Case updated; CEAC status not changed

9/23/20 Case updated; CEAC status “Issued” (fine print: “Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This process can take several weeks.”  !!???)

9/23/20 Case updated; CEAC status not changed, fine print changed to “Your visa is in final processing.”  Around the same time (2:30 PM), my wife got an email notice that a shipment label had been created for Purolator.

9/24/20 Visa arrived at home address via Purolator.

We chose priority shipping to a home address because our address changed Sept. 1 and my wife does not have government issued ID with our current address for post office pickup.  Based on our experience, the priority option does nothing at the consular level; another beneficiary that interviewed the same day as my wife had a visa shipped the same day, while my wife’s was shipped one week later, along with visas from this past Monday.  So it looks like they bunch them up somewhat.  It took only 23 hours via Purolator from when the shipping label was created in Montreal to our home address in a rural area near Kitchener/Waterloo.  If that kind of shipping speed and/or service to your front door is important to you, pay the extra $21.  But the regular option seems just as good from our viewpoint, if you have ID available for pickup (that was our Plan A until we needed to move again on Sept. 1).

We plan to cross by land at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls on Saturday.  I called and they said they are processing IR1 visas.  I plan to call again on Saturday morning for a second confirmation.  I’ll post an update sometime after we enter the US.

Amazing! Thank you for sharing!! Helps so much!! My CEAC status just changed to issued with final processing!! I'm ALMOST there too!! :) CONGRATS!!!

Congratulations!! Still waiting for IR1 interview but when our time comes we will be crossing by land at Fort Erie/Peace Bridge. Interesting to hear Rainbow Bridge is processing as they are a smaller crossing, but none the less as long you get in to the US that's all that matters! Good luck with your new life in the US!!!

I'm just paying for extra bags on the plane. I have 3 bags, including one oversized, and my carry on. Air Canada. It should cost me $200 for everything. Just look up the baggage policies for the airline you're travelling with :)
