if I just keep my justification that we wanted a small ceremony in Canada and our large reception in Hawaii and bring my photos with me i should be ok and shouldn’t need to get into the parental details?

Yes - you'll be fine with that information in hand but you might not need it!  Practice different scenarios, but the questions can generally be answered concisely and easily in conversation.  For example from my interview it went something like this.

How and when did you meet? Traveling in Vietnam in 2013.
Did you start dating right away?  No, we started dating in 2014 when I had moved back to Canada permanently.

When did you get married? September 2018 (I didn't get into the details of having a legal ceremony and a public ceremony later on because she didn't ask just focused on what she did ask)

When was the las time you were able to see him? He came to visit me in Canada in October of this year.

Our "legal" marriage ceremony was at City Hall and our two witnesses were city staff we have never met before!  No one in our family knows our "real" marriage date, they only know our anniversary as the day we held our public ceremony/reception performed by a friend. As long as you know the date of your legal marriage (TBH my interviewer only asked me for the year) and be ready to provide more details (RE who was there) you'll be fine.  But start by just answering the questions as they ask, you don't need to use the word elopement if you don't want to.

Thank you so much! This is so helpful 💜

So I called medisys this am to see if an immigration medical is deemed essential & the gentleman I spoke with wasn’t sure because they haven’t been provided specific guidance yet. Certainly not the most reassuring phone call... (I’d have assumed that the medical would still be essential, but possibly not the interview - yikes).

I can’t help but worry ever since the Consulate said they don’t have my husband’s medical results. I really hope they keep the Consulate open and we don’t have to wait much longer for his visa to be issued. I also hope they don’t forget about him LOL. This process has me VERY on edge 99.9% of the time. For all my folks that had medical result delays, do you have any update on movement/visa being issued? I know there was a handful of us!

Office workers have to work from home unless their attendance is required for customer service. I dont think the consulate has to shut down. Doesn't mean it won't.

They haven't mentioned anything yet on their Facebook and Twitter. Just retweeted what Legault said. Haven't seen anything about it yet, so good news i hope🤞🤞

Hi! Does anyone know how long the CR-1 waiting period is at the moment? How long after getting married should it take for the interview to come?

a) complete your timeline https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=373046

b) VJ has a feature where you can look at timelines similar to yours

c) check out the spreadsheet linked in my signature

also if you're not even married yet you may wish to consider the K-1 route

I want to travel to Canada from the States for the holidays but I can not stay for 2 weeks . I just want to enter the new year with my hubby. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? What do I need to take with me to travel? I plan to buy one way ticket both ways and stay for 5 days . Please advise.

Thank you

it's been previously discussed in here that they won't stop you from leaving early... you still need to submit a 2- week plan though

Ok thank you. A lot of people told me to not pursue the K-1 route since I’m from Canada and my partner is from the US.

Nothing on social media or consulate website yet so fingers crossed!

Unfortunately not. I keep checking my status on CEAC since my interview in hopes that the Consulate received my medical exam and it’ll say issued. I hope those of us awaiting the receipt of our medical exams hear good news very soon!

Quick question, if the intended US address has changed from the original i-130, which was submitted 18 months ago. Can I just update them of the new address and state at the Interview? I advised thr doctor who is doing my medical of the new address as well. I assume its ok to change your mind? Lol

Yes! My husband and I bought a house early this year and at my interview when they asked if I was still intending to live at the same address in the US I told them we moved and they changed it in the system
