Hi everyone!

I had my interview today, all was almost ok, but  The Consulate didn't receive my medical on time.  I had  the Medical Exam with Medisys in Montreal on Dec 2nd  and I received an e-mail on Dec 8th  which said that it had been submitted to the eMedical system. However I was denied and given a section 221g form as my medical exam is still pending to be received. They kept my passport but I am still pending to be approved!

I knew anyone had the same experience. Please let me know if I have to wait 4 or 6 weeks. Where I can check my status.

My husband had the same experience today! It seems like the medical wasn’t received by the Consulate for A LOT of folks interviewing today. Hoping they understand this is a problem on their end and they enter the medicals in their system ASAP so we can move on with our lives. They should hire an intern or something to enter in this information quickly LOL. You would think EMEDICAL would be faster in this tech savvy world. Now, I wish I had just received a physical package to present at the interview instead. Also, Dr. Zatzman confirmed TWICE that it was sent via emedical to the Consulate, so the issue is definitely on the receiving end.

Hi, Quick question, I have my interview on Jan 27 and I am going through the checklist of documents that I need to take with me. One of them says 'Original' birth certificate. I do not have the original one but i do have a certified copy from the registrar office. Will they accept this? or do they definitely need the original?

Certified copy, as long as it's the long form with parents' names.

Hi everyone, just following up from my previous post and providing details of my interview yesterday. Everyone who posted their experiences has been so helpful to me and I hope that mine can help out those who’s interviews are coming up as well.

My interview was scheduled for 8:00am. I stayed at the Hotel Birks the night before. The hotel was about a 7 minute walk to the Consulate and that too an easy one, down the same street. I arrived probably around just after 7:50am. The Consulate is located in the same building as an RBC and directly across the street from an Aritzia, Little Burgandy, and Michael Kors. There’s also two giant nutcrackers on the street right now which is helpful in locating the building. The doors to the Consulate were locked, but a Security Guard noticed me from inside and directed me to form a line up against the side of the building. He then proceeded to call me in about five mins later and checked my passport before directing me to go through Security. After security, I was directed to go to the first floor using the elevator and to go to windows 4, 5, or 6 when available.

When I arrived, there was one person sitting down and a couple of people at the windows. It’s important to note that if there’s other people sitting and no windows available, you have to note your turn and then approach one of the windows when it’s available. Many people who came in were unsure and there’s no sign indicating what to do. I also noticed that the security guard who sits near the waiting area was also not consistent in letting everyone know what to do when they arrived so many were confused.

I went up to a window when it was my turn and they asked for a passport and informed that I would be called up to provide my documents. Shortly after I was called up and asked to provide my address for where I will be living in the US and also my current address in Canada.

I also was asked to provide the following:

- Original Birth Certificate (I had both long and short but was asked for long)

- Original Marriage Certificate

- Husband’s 2019 tax return (Form 1040), W-2, and tax transcript

- One passport sized photo

- Police Certificate

- I-864 Form

*Both my Police Certificate and I-864 form were updated from the ones that I originally uploaded, I didn’t upload the new ones prior to the interview and just provided the individual with the updated ones

After waiting for some time, I was called up to a window for the interview. I was asked the following:

- Who is the petitioner?

- When and where did you meet your husband?

- Details about our wedding (when, where, who attended)

- What does your husband do for a living? Where does he work? Where is his work located?

- What do you plan to do after you move? What work will you do?

- Have you ever been arrested or charged?

- Have you ever been denied entry to the US and/or turned around?

- Where have you travelled to in the last five years?

As mentioned in my previous post, I was then informed that they did not receive my medical exam and that they weren’t able to approve me today. I was given a 221g form that stated “pending medical exam”. The individual who interviewed me asked to keep my passport as this was normal and that once the medical exam was received, they could issue the Visa and send my passport back to me.

I left the Consulate just before 9:30am. Hoping my medical exam is received soon!

I am assuming there are quite a few antsy folks waiting to get their IL letter, I know we are looking forward to see how far along the DQ list they get scheduled out so we can narrow our time estimate down!

Will be keeping an eye out, and please share the good news!

Hi everyone! Anyone with DS-260 error??

We are gathering our documents for our Jan. 13th interview and as I was reviewing everything we realized we left out two previous addresses my husband had stayed at while attending university in the states. Technically he was at the residence for about four months, back to Canada for Christmas and then another four months so never six months consecutively but I'm not sure what to do.

I have a complete list for him to present at his interview if they ask but is this something he doesn't mention unless the interviewer mentions it or would it be best to disclose right away when they are collecting his documents?

I've heard both answers and it seems most people just don't mention anything unless the officer asks a question regarding that as they have already had the docs for review and can ask if needed? I just don't want to provide anything they don't need that could put us in processing but also want to be 100% honest.

Any experience?

Is there a forum or document where I can read the nitty gritty on bringing our personal belongings to the U.S? Like which forms, how detail the packing list should be, etc.

Check out this FAQ - should have most of the info you're looking for: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k927pE5wqzTN5n0lPYZ1JQxgbmnzmNWX5hSteyii0BY/edit

So here's the thing, I have quite the dilemma, like many of you have or have had!

I'm finally flying out the U.S. Saturday to see my wife and kids (been 5 months!!) and my return flight was to be early April.

Now, with the Consulate moving things faster than predicted (yay!), My DQ is June 1st, meaning it's very likely that I will get an IL next month, for an early February interview.

Now I'm scrambling to look at switching my flight back to Canada for earlier in January on the hopes that get an IL, and quarantine. Apparently Medisys in Montreal said they only have 2 dates a week that they do the medicals for the consulate. Tues/Wed... So I need to unfortunately cut my trip very short in order to hopefully get a medical at the end of January, and possibly still have a delay with my medical and the consulate if my interview is early February.

of course this is all assuming i'm getting an IL next month, and won't delay even more thus not seeing my family for an extending period of time again.

Vent over..

thanks.

I don't have vaccinations record either so I called my doctor and he told me to come for Titer for MMR and will get Adacel shot done as well. So, the Titer blood test for MMR is cool but would Adacel shot work? I don't have Td vaccination record so I should be getting an adult series of two doses 4 weeks apart and third one after 6 months, no?

Here is what Dr. Zatzman's website says:

If you have no proof of a primary series you must begin an adult series of TWO doses of Td 4 to 8 weeks apart with a third dose 6 to 12 months after the second.

or

You must have proof of a Td booster within the 4 weeks prior to your immigration medical.

I know this has been discussed many times but was wondering that instead of doing the adult series doses, if I did Td booster (Adacel?) as soon I get IL, would it be acceptable since it says it should be done within 4 weeks prior to medical?

"You must be as up-to-date as possible with your series at the time of your immigration medical." Based on that line and the fact that you don't have your vaccination record I'd go for option 1 of beginning an adult series if you have time for it. If not, the single adacel booster should suffice.

Always better to disclose right away so they don't suspect that you're trying to hide anything, especially if you have provided information about a student visa but no US addresses (that could raise some questions). They are local addresses so if they need to do additional checks on them it won't take long. The delay in additional checks occurs when they have to reach out to countries that just don't have the infrastructure in place to respond to the consulate's request quickly. Not quite the same but they had the wrong address for where I would be moving to in the US and I corrected them at the interview and it didn't result in any delay.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.
