WOW!!! They quoted me that price when I asked a few weeks ago. They must have increased their prices...and since my interview will only be in a few months from now, it might even be more expensive...

I looked at my bill and there is a 50$ courier charge. So I think that may be the discrepancy.
They didn’t ask me if I wanted to pick it up though but I would have had it couriered even if they did. So if you pick it up, your amount is correct.

Question for those that have POE'd: do you have to do a change of address with USPS so that they know your address or is that automatically done via giving your intended address during the visa application?

The mail boxes in our building are maintained by USPS and have the names of those who are registered to that address on them and I'd like to add mine so I can receive mail but I'm not sure how to do that.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but changing your address with USPS doesn't change it with USCIS, if that's what you mean. (They state that here: https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange )

You can register with USPS informed delivery, which I highly recommend. (I was able to register for it at my husband's house, even though I don't actually live there yet.) They send you an email every day telling you what mail you are getting. I have found this really helpful a couple of times - we were supposed to get something important, and they had actually put it in the wrong mailbox, so I knew to go looking for it! https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

Husband had his medical examination today with Dr.Cheema. He was apparently a character.

Random question: Do we still need to purchase travel insurance for a year to show that they won’t be a burden on the system (or whatever that was). I can’t remember the outcome of the stuff that was being put in place last fall.

Is anyone else having schedule challenges with Dr Cheema? We called the office Monday and got multiple busy signals. When we finally got through they said we had to email to set the appointment. We emailed that on Monday. No response yet. Called today (Friday), got directed to voicemail. So one week since IL, and no medical appt set yet due to lack of response. Any hints how to make it work?

We emailed on Monday and got an appointment for today. Apparently they were extremely busy, so they’re probably booked up. I’d just email again because they don’t schedule via phone.

Unless an exclusion is specified, USPS delivers mail to an address rather than a name.

We hate junk mail, and other people's mail. And sometimes despite having a placard stating "only deliver to US Hawk Rider & CAN Hawk Rider" other rubbish may still show up.

You can try reaching out to the postmaster to specify your name association as well as spouse.  And make sure to set up international forwarding from CAN to the WA address too...

I know that this question has been asked and answered before , but after speaking with my immigration attorney I am a bit worried and confused. We got married on January 19 2019,  my interview is on December 11th, 2019. I am planning to cross the border after our 2 year anniversary. Will I be granted a 10 year green card since I am crossing after my 2 year anniversary? According to my lawyer I will recieve a 2 yr GC because issuance is based on time of interview , not time of crossing.

Has anyone tried to email the Consulate and gotten a response? I emailed on Tuesday and no answer yet.

Hi. Yes, I was emailing them on the regular basis with inquiries. They reply within a week or 10 days at most. Last reply I received was Nov 19 to inquiry I sent Nov 12

From what I have heard and seen here and online, you will receive a 10 year green card if you CROSS after your 2 year anniversary. Typically, at crossing they will see you’ve been married for more than 2 years and issue you a 10 year GC, but if you get a 2 yr one, make sure to file a correction form and get it corrected! ☺️

@AnnieF @C&L2018 @KAP2019 @kbertrand are our most recent ones who switched processes.

I am in South Carolina, since March and since my original interview was cancelled.....waited until just before my I-94 was due to expire and then submitted AoS at the beginning of August.  It seems to be going verrrry slowly.  I do have my confirmation of receipt so can legitimately stay here in the US while processing, but have not received biometrics appointment yet.  Usually you receive the biometrics around 6 weeks after submission....but I'm three and a half months in.  This is not surprising to me and I am grateful to be with my spouse.  We have not ever lived apart - and so the thought of being separated for any length of time seems terrifying to us.  Our priority was to stay together, hence making the choice to switch to AoS.  I am also retired, so not in a desperate need to receive my green card for income right now.

I think you have to weigh up the pros and cons for your individual case.  Ans assume things will take longer than stated (as it has for all of us so far, right?!).  The AoS process is a little simpler, for example, you only have to get a police record if you have a criminal record.  But the financial paperwork is long and annoying!

Good luck with whatever you all decide.  We will get there in the end - keep the faith!

I believe it's called the I-90 form - you can download it directly from the USCIS website. Only complete this form if you crossed after your 2yr marriage anniversary and still received a 2yr green card.
