Hi! I just got my interview date for next week. Has anyone done their medical with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas in Toronto? Anything I need to know before we go? How long did it take you to set up a medical apt?

That's where I did mine originally! Everything was straight forward just follow the instructions on his website :) His secretary replies right away.

Usually 3rd week of the month, either the first or second business day. The Monday of the 3rd week of October is Thanksgiving so it will most likely be either the Tuesday (13th) or Wednesday (14th).

Yes! The next status is the one saying that your visa is in final processing and on it's way to you. Hopefully you won't be at this current stage for too long :)

Amazing. I cannot even explain how I felt after my interview. My whole world came crashing down on me. How long are people usually in this stage now? So it definitely means its approved at least?

One thing to consider: all three Toronto doctors say they need 10 business days to get results.  It wasn't that long for my wife but it was close enough.  Medisys in Montreal claims to be faster, but I don't know if that would work for you.

There's no timeline for it but it isn't usually too long for Canadians. It all depends on what they need to look into.

@DGF Does the timeline differ if my spouse is in Canada but on a student visa? I am an US citizen but since my spouse was in Canada finishing up her masters we selected Montreal as the consulate. She is now done with master and has applied for a work permit.

Thanks

No difference but she needs legal status in Canada at the time of interview.
All this info is in the FAQ Thread

Does applied for status count as legal? She has filed for work permit since June. But there is a such a big back log for that as well.

You got DQ last month. Plenty of time to get the work permit. People with december 2019 dq are still waiting on interview.

I strongly recommend sending her Canadian permit to NVC when you’re uploading your documents. They make not ask for it at first but they will once they review your case. I got a 2-month delay because of this.

What are folks' thoughts about wait times? Do you think moving forward the consulate will schedule more interviews to cut wait times down, or will 300 days be the new standard? Just submitting everything to NVC now so wondering what to expect.

Our case is already reviewed and DQ at NVC. At that moment, we hadn’t applied for work permit. Will surely take the work permit to the interview....when it happens.
