Seems the Consulate is confused that a K1 visa is an immigrant visa. Someone needs to wake them up!!

K1 is dual. It’s nonimmigrant before POE and immigrant after POE.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

Consulate just posted a video on their social media.

So basically any shipped K-1 to the consulate before the pandemic has priority over spousal.
Well at least now we know that even in December there may not be any spousal interviews if they don’t finish these up.

That’s what I seem to understand to from their video. That’s really sucks because K1 and spousal don’t have the same process type.

^^I know its easy to think that the second sentence implies there will be no movement on IR1/CR1 until they deal with these K1 cases but they reference "those" (bold added above) indicating (to me) that this statement only refers to K1 visas.

I sure hope you're right. I just can't understand why they did K1 3 days in a row then. They only wait about 1 year so I'm pretty sick and tired of having to be happy for them while waiting most likely 2.5 years by the time our interview comes around.

They don't "only wait one year." They end up in the United States and have a very long process to get their status adjusted. Meanwhile they can't work or do many other things normal people take for granted.

It is frustrating to see k1s get interviews and we aren't seeing anything. Its also frustrating that other consulates are down to 2 and a half month wait times. But im going to be frustrated at the consulate for their incredibly poor management and not at other people who just made different choices. I seriously considered K1 in 2019 but I went this route but, contrary to some peoples belief here, making the k1 choice wouldn't have made my relationship any less committed or valid.

So at the end of they day no one here has to be happy for them but the insinuation that they somehow don't deserve what they are getting is quite petty. Everyone deserves to be together and the frustration should be focused at the consulate who is failing to meet the standards others are setting rather than trying to imply that a piece of paper makes your relationship more valid than someone else's.

Shoot, sorry, I thought you were taking a break. I never said they're relationship is "less valid". All anyone is looking for is fair. Nothing petty about that. There are only 2 interview days per week for whatever reason. If they are filled with K1 then guess who isn't getting interviewed. I don't feel anyone is attacking anyone and just voicing frustration with the process.
