Getting a Social security number - please help

Hello everybody! 

I’m from Oregon and got my employment authorization in June, have been trying to apply for a social security card but I was told that the application might not go through the homeland security and might be denied 😳 because I’m still in process of getting my green card (we applied for it in December...).

 

Did anyone have the same problem? Why would that even be an issue? I have been thinking that as I have my EAD , there are not going to be any issues with SSN.
