The problem is that cases seem to move through the system randomly.

It's as if they pass a case to a caseworker, I would assume, with the least cases assigned when it comes in regardless of origin and anything else. If you are lucky your caseworker has "easy cases" and moves through them faster.

Another factor is the knowledge of the person working on the case. A case can be simple to a caseworker but not so much to another. They adjudicate cases according to the USCIS Policy Manual and definitely not all of them have the same level of familiarity with it.

Have you tried inquiring about your case?

Yeah, finances are not taken in account in this stage of the VISA process.

I also don't think that expensive rings, business class and fancy hotels prove you have a stable high paying job. Taxes and pay slips prove that. Anything else you can save for, take a loan out for or have someone else pay for you.

In all I don't believe any of the points are why this particular petition went through faster. Most of us haven't even got a case update stating they are actively reviewing the case. All the points are void, if nobody has actually looked at our cases yet.

The problem is that cases seem to move through the system randomly.

At any rate, pretty much everything Darthvador stated applies to me too. I am from The Netherlands, which is with exception of the UK, the country with the longest trade relationship with the US, and also a non-problematic country. I don't have a non-immigrant VISA, because as EU citizens we don't need one. I have traveled to the US for work multiple times and for in-law visits on an ESTA multiple times over the past 6 years, without issues. I have a high paying IT job that will continue in the US (which I don't get to prove until the next step). And no kids for us either, just me. On top of that my wife and I have been married for almost 5 years, which is well past the bonified marriage condition of 2 years. It's an easy case that should get approval easily enough, as long as someone looks at it.

Agree, I don't think finances come into play here either. I think it's luck of the draw tbh. I don't think a case being pulled out soon has anything to do with the petition itself. Of course once your case is being reviewed and everything looks sound there won't be a huge delay in receiving an approval. In my own case, I am also from a non problematic country, and will have the same high paying job when I move to the states (I work remotely for a US company) but that aspect of it won't come into play until we get to the NVC. My current status of 'case is being actively reviewed' hasn't changed in the past 21 days 🤷‍♀️ So for me the USCIS stage is a completely random process.

Man that sucks. I was just looking at a timeline from someone who filed via mail in October with a NOA1 date in November that already got their approval (infuriating I know). Under the comments it was mentioned that the case swapped to actively reviewed and then to approved in a matter of hours.

Damn that is quick! I have been chatting to a couple who filed in November, received the case is actively being reviewed in December and got approved in early January...Also on various visa facebook groups I have been noticing A LOT of December filers almost instantly getting this status which doesn't add up...

For me it's nearly a month since I received this status so my fear right now is that it is some kind of error on their system 🤷‍♀️ Trying not to think about it so much anymore.

We don't even bother to check weekly status any more. It is what it is! We will count our lucky stars if we get approved before summer. Just waiting for that SMS ping, whenever it happens...

It is frustrating and annoying to hear about fast approvals, but it helps to remember that out of all received I-130 cases at a particular service center, those that sail to super fast approval are probably well under 1%. Heh, I wish it were at 90% or so LoL

11-20-2019 - mailed docs to NVC

12-20-2019 - DS-260 done

02-14-2020 - IV interview scheduled for 03-31-2020

03-15-2020 - pending IV interview cancelled due to COVID

08-04-2020 - US Embassy notified us - not eligible for a follow -to-join immigration route anymore. Spouse has naturalized. Advised to re-start the process with I-130 😯

"2 heart attacks" and a month later....

09-08-2020 - applied online I-130

09-09-2020 - NOA1 sent out

09-16-2020 - received NOA1 hardcopy, case pending at Texas SC,

Possibly, I don't know how many applicants also join VisaJourney. Of the last 100 approvals at Nebraska on VisaJourney, 52.5% got their approval in less than 4 months.

I think that is an old thing.  I Have been told by many people that isn't done anymore.  So when you see that it is usually from people much further along in the process.  I wondered that for months and always thought everyone was on a different website.
