When and if the world gets back to "normal" and the USCIS is fully funded, I would expect some normalization of times rather than all of the wild swings.   It isn't just K1's but all petitions types all the way to naturalization that are on this rubber band.

September 25, 2018 Interview in CDJ and Approved!

October 7, 2018 In the USA

October 27, 2018 Green Card received 

October 29, 2018 Applied for Social Security Card - November 5, 2018 Social Security Card received

November 6th, 2018 State ID Card Received, Applied for Global Entry - Feb 8,2019 Approved.

July 14, 2020 Removal of Conditions submitted by mail  July 12, 2021 Biometrics Completed

August 6, 2021 N-400 submitted by mail

September 7, 2021 I-751 Interview, Sept 8 Approved and Card Being Produced

October 21, 2021 N-400 Biometrics Completed  

November 30,2021  Interview, Approval and Oath

December 10, 2021 US Passport Issued

August 12, 2022 PHL Dual Nationality Re-established & Passport Approved 

April 6,2023 Legally Separated - Oh well

It is very likely throughout your entire immigration process you will see the processing times constantly change. Word of advice- stop looking. You will drive yourself crazy and bring unneeded anxiety.   People that arrived and thought they would have their EAD in a few months are waiting upwards to a year now. Patience is key.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?


    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take 
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Even in normal times, processing times on I-129Fs and at consulates can go up and down a lot. I-129F processing times went way up in early 2017 (from averaging under 4 months to around 7), stayed very high for about a year, and then started falling to the point where VJ averages weren't much over 3 months for a while (most of 2019) and then had been slowly increasing at the end of 2019 through early 2020 before covid 19 started affecting processing. And as far as I'm aware of, that wasn't the first time a cycle like that happened.
