Bush doesn't give a sh!t about illegal aliens. Its the big companies he cares about, and they want cheap labor.

I agree. Repeatedly I have read these stories of Bush's so-called "roots" of being raised in west Texas among Mexican laborers employed by Bush senior and being raised by his Mexican nanny is the reason he is soft on rampant Mexican illegal immigration. That is a load of hogwash and nothing more than pro-amnesty tear jerker propaganda to hide the real truth.

The Bush family is pure East Coast Ivy League Big Business Conservatives from way back. Why anyone believes he is some sort of Texas cowboy is beyond my comprehension. Nothing could be further from the truth. I guess it makes it easier for the liberal Left to hate him if he is stereotyped as some sort of Southern redneck cowboy.

Bush's Presidency has been all about Big Business, Corporate America, and Multinational Globalism. There's not much there for the little guy from America, much less illegal aliens. That is not what Bush and his cronies are about.

The illegal alien welcome mat is all about guys like Vincente Fox and his cronies than it is about the illiterate melon picker.

While removing all illegal immigrants will directly effect big business. It will be the consumers who will be paying through the products they buy for rising labor costs. When your grocery bill increases 25-50% due to rising labor costs, will you still feel the same?

fact ... or speculation ?

Speculation to make a point. Illegal immigrants do contribute in industries such as agriculture. and do indirectly keep the cost of the products we buy in the grocery store down. Not all types of Ag are easily mechanized and rely on cheap labor to keep costs down. So if these industries have to raise wages to get workers into the fields and orchards to do the work, that cost will be passed on to you. Its simple economics.

But its not as simple as that. If you remove all the illegal immigrants you are also removing 12 million consumers. Will this reduce the demand on food to offset the higher costs? It probably will somewhat, but I don't think it will entirely. But it doesn't stop there. Removing that many consumers from the market will have a ripple effect across the entire economy. Companies will likely cut jobs to compensate for lower sales. Of course there will be jobs once filled by illegal aliens that these people can fill. But of course, at lower pay.

The whole economy will go through a recession. Everyone will be affected, some more than others.

As much as many people despise illegal aliens, we are all reaping the benefits of their contribution to the economy. This isn't just about big business, but they certainly become the evil scapegoat.

They certainly don't send it all home. They have to spend money here to live. If you remove that money it will effect our economy. They buy food, TVs and cars just like the rest of us.

Wait.... legal workers working for lower pay than the illegals are getting now? How do you figure that one?

As much as many people despise illegal aliens, we are all reaping the benefits of their contribution to the economy. This isn't just about big business, but they certainly become the evil scapegoat.

Contribution to the economy, sort of. We are exporting jobs left and right. Illegals work mainly in industries that we can't export, like agriculture and restaurants.

Don't you think that illegal immigration isn't really good for the illegal immigrants either? Free trade laws bring everyone down in a competition to the bottom. Fair trade laws pull everyone up to the same standards that we enjoy. The system of using illegal immigrant labor is based on Free Trade with anyone (even countries that violently supress wages and have no workplace safety standards.) If we had a system where we have totally free trade, but only with countries that have similar laws to our own, then that ensuress we have a level playing field and that means that the coutnries the illegals immigrate from would be good enough taht they would have to immigrate illegally in the first place.

The democrats are now in control of the house and senate so putting the responsibility on the president alone is a joke.

PS Is it not numerous Democrat senators who are strongly pushing amnesty or what?? Or do they support amnesty until someone illegal works for republicans. Then it is wrong over course..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

8 of your gop senators voted for it..12 dems against it..your president the leader of the gop, is my main driver of this legislature...it is a gop issue, which the dems are backing for political reasons

You said it. The dems only care about gaining control of the white house. Not about this nation or it's people. Which is quite sad really.

even more surprising is the dems haven't hired him based on his "resume"

insinuate all you want. fact is, the GOP hired him. the irony is thick. i guess i shouldn't be surprised. i am familiar with California's GOP history. The rank and file are good folks; the leadership leans heavily toward the clusterf#ck side.

ah yes, only you can insinuate  if the dems had would you have posted this?

i think you are right..the dems have lsot the south as a base and parts of the west...this is a way to recapture some of the fringe states in the next national election

And the Republicans are? Both parties are the same, looking out for only their own issues and of the special interest groups that pay them.
