Wrong consulate on application

Hi, i just found out that the consulate i had listed on my k-1 application does not do interviews. My application had been approved by the USCIC and had sent to the NVC back in march. Due to covid, i guess all the application had been put on hold so i dont know where my application is since i have no case number. Anyone have any recommendations?

NVC will correct the consulate.  K1's aren't being sent to most consulates. I can't tell from your profile or timeline what country it is.

I had shaghai listed but apparently only guangzhou does the interviews.

It's a mystery to me why they even have that question on the form.

 

The petition will be forwarded to the embassy/consulate that handles immigrant visas for the beneficiary's current physical address. If you pick an embassy/consulate other than that one, your answer is usually ignored.

It is a hold over from when you actually had a choice.  It is easier to add a field then delete it in government!

I have a follow up question...  i recent gave the NVC a call to get clarification on this whole Shanghai and Guangzhou issue only to find out that they are routing it to Seoul since my fiancé lives/works in Korea. I tried calling the Seoul embassy but they were just giving me a bunch of non-answers. Can my fiancé do her interview, medical, etc in a country other than her citizenship country? Thanks

She can interview anywhere where she has legal residency.  If she legally resides in Korea, she can interview in Korea.  My wife is Filipino and we were permanent residents in Mexico so we interviewed in Mexico.

If she can demonstrate legal residency then she will interview in SK.  Here is some information about the process in SK.
