DS 260 Surname Blank

Hi guys, so this is my issue hopefully someone knows what to do

My wife's surname is blank, her given name is 'AAA BBB' where BBB is her last name.

I have not submitted her ds260 yet but i have gotten a PCC which has her current passport number in it. So my question is can i go ahead, apply ds260, then change the passport before the interview? The PCC will point to the passport number which has the surname blank. Kind of worried about changing passports before interview. I also recently had her passport updated for address and spouse name addition but this issue was not visible to me until i was reviewing the ds 260

I'm in the same boat as you are with my wife. However, currently I am one process further than yours as she is already DQ for the NVC. Since surname is required for the DS260 form we end up placing Kxxx at surname field. When the NVC approved and gave us DQ they changed the givenName to Fnu and surname to Hxxx Kxxx

Now we are debating whether to change a passport to reflect Kxxx at the surname field (this will be long process because they need 2-3 different proofs where name is changed related to education, etc) or wait until she comes to USA and then remove it using the `name split` process through ckgs.

Yes but if we wait for them to come to America then we have to change the passport at the indian embassy, then we have to change the green card and ssn, which is a pain in the butt. If I can i'd rather change it in india before the interview and avoid the fnu. They cant even get drivers license and will have trouble procuring work.

Maybe I can add my last name to her surname, does anyone know if it's ok to change name after ds260 submission?

The name on the DS-260 should match the name on the applicant's passport.  If your wife can get a new passport with the name she wants, then she can update the DS-260 at the consulate on the day of her interview.

i don't have a surname, but my name has 3 words, so usually i am using the last word of my name as my surname. that was what i did too with my ds260. fortunately my passport only has "name" on it, not "given name" and "surname" separately.

regarding PCC in India, did you need to get the new one if your wife change her passport?

Get a new passport and a new PCC as soon as possible.
