Has Anyone's Fiance Applied for a different Visa and denied?

Our interview is on July 9th in Bangkok. My fiance applied for a student visa in December 2006 and was denied. They said it was because they thought she was coming here to immigrate. This wasn't true and she was accepted at UC-Irvine. When finishing school she was going back to Thailand and then we were going to start the K-1 process. Since her student visa was denied, we decided to just go ahead and apply for the K-1 visa. The reason we did not applly for the K-1 at the beginning is because my divorce was dragging through the CA court systems and I wasnt sure when it would be final. The student visa was originally submitted in October 2006 and the interview was on December 19th. To my surprise, my ex-wife agreed to a bifurcation of the divorce and our dissolution of marriage happened on December 15th.

Has anyone here had their fiance denied a different visa besides K-1 or K-3?

Has this created a problem during the K-1 / K-3 interview/process?

You might need to check if she needs a waiver or something like that.

Soooo many people have been denied tourist visas and haven't had problems. I wouldn't worry about it. But be honest when asked.

Previous denials for tourist or student visas do not have any bearing on one's eligibility to receive a K-1 visa. But I agree w/ other(s).....be honest about the denial and disclose it if and when asked. Among the paperwork for the visa (at the consular stage of things) you are asked, on one of the forms, (I can't remember which one) if you have even been refused a visa to enter the US. That is where you put the information, that you applied for a student visa but was denied. At the interview the CO may or may not ask you about it, and you can then answer that the visa was for the purposes of studying at UC-Irvine.
