I am trying to use James' shortcuts to generate cover page for DS-230. My question is when I generate the barcode, it comes with a little line "Powered by IDAutomation.com". My question is ... how do I get rid of it? Do I just crop the image? I didn't see specifics in James' shortcuts, so I am just curious. Thanks in advance.

If you are running Windows you can white out/erase the 'powered' thing in Paint. That worked quite well for me anyway :)

The new one is also posted in the 'knowing your case & James' shortcuts' thread ... though I can't tell you what page exactly. One of the last ones ...

It's the one with the blue lady liberty. I used it without any problems.

Thank you Erica and Miriam n Alain, I did find the new cover sheet. This one is a bit more complicated than the old one, maybe I just wait for the DS-230 papers to avoid any issues. Suggestions? Thanks all!

The new DS-230 is on the Timesavers post, page 11. It's on the first post, #151.

The question I have is, how in the world did you get the small barcode in there? I pasted it onto the space and it looks ok, except for a big thick black line right underneath it. I've sat here for over an hour trying to get it right and nothing. :ranting:

I can't remember exactly but I think you can get rid of the line by unclicking the underlining button. The thing next to the bold and italic one.

Yep, Diana, Erica is right -- there is some underlining just before the example barcode in there, so when you paste the new one in, it gets underlined. I meant to take it out but never did . . . anyway, just highlight it and de-select the underline button.

Thanks guys. I sent the form to my husband and he got it to look right, he said the same thing you did, so of course I feel a little dumb. Hehehe, the important thing is that it's ready for me to print out as soon as they say it's been generated.

Thanks again!!!

I didn't exactly feel very intelligent trying for HOURS to get that tiny barcode to fit in that tiny space, AND working that line out.

So, yes, the important thing is that it's done and ready to go ;)

Using Microsoft Paint creates problems because what you're then pasting into the document is not a picture but a Microsoft Paint bitmap object. Sounds geeky, but the bottom line is that you can't follow the Format Picture instructions in the shortcuts with a bitmap object because, well, it's a bitmap object and not a picture, and you won't have the Format Picture option available to you to resize the barcode properly.

This is why the shortcuts repeatedly suggest using a graphics editing program like IrfanView (and provide a link to the free download of this small, incredibly easy-to-use program).

The underlining problem and its solution is discussed in the shortcuts, too.

So these hours lost unnecessarily tweaking could have been prevented by actually reading!

Edit: Heh, reminds me of an acronym I continually came across in a previous, more technically oriented career: RTFM. The "R" is for "read" and the "M" is for manual -- you can figure the rest out for yourselves! RTFS!!!
