Case Status changed to expired

My status changed to expired too on September 8! My fiance and I filed November 2018 and we had delays because I had to undergo treatment and then the virus. Now, I'm just waiting for the embassy to open so I can schedule my remedical and interview. I'm freaking out too! It's the same for someone I know who also filed 2018.

Has anyone had or heard of a case in AP changing to expired on CEAC? I’ve already filed a mandamus and have constantly emailed the embassy since my interview so I don’t know why I would get this status and what it means! I am always following up and have done everything possible to get my case moving. I filed k1 in April 2018, interviewed June 2019 and filed mandamus April 2020. My case status was changed to expired on September 10th and I’m freaking out!

Did you ever get an answer?

They have not been here on VJ since October. There is a neat trick you can use to answer your question and in the timeline under their name (left column for their profile) and using that link it takes you to their timeline where you will have answered your question. It looks like they have had their interview and we know nothing more. That could because they received the visa and have traveled and given up on VJ or they are still waiting the final adjudication of their visa and are stuck in AP.

Yes it’s because I’m still waiting and don’t want to share anything prematurely. We had a second interview in mid November  for re-oath and biometrics and sent updated medical and other documents along with the passport but then the embassy closed two days later due to rising COVID cases and are not processing visas. I will definitely be updating my timeline when this is all over. I know we all can use all the help we can get and abandoned timelines help no one.

Status changing to expired seems to be kind of common. Contact your consulate and they will change it if you have been keeping up with your case. I know it causes lots of stress but mine was changed back to refused (for administrative processing) 11 days later

My status didnt change to expired. I was asking if u ever got anything resolved.
My case is “refused” pending DS-5355 (given at time of interview). Did you get a DS-5355?

Hopefully yours is much faster and mine is k1 so since yours is marriage it’ll probably be faster! It is definitely a long and miserable wait though :(

I was wondering about that.  Our lawyer said spousal visa would be easier and more solid than k1. Since COVID it seems a lot of embassies have stopped k1. So I completely understand and feel your pain. I really don’t understand how some ppl get through this process in very short time and others it takes years.  Ok do the extreme vetting if u must, but how does it take so long to do the extreme vetting?
This process destroys lives.
The only bright side is that our case changed to an IR1 due to the long wait and will be able to get 10 yr visa instead of 2 yr conditional.

Yes I know it’s so frustrating you never know what to expect! I knew my fiancé being from Iraq would make the vetting longer but never imagined a wait like this!! It definitely destroys lives but I hope you get yours soon!

Inshallah soon. I wish you and your fiancé all the best as well. Maybe things will get better with new president in January.
