Petitioner Original Birth Certificate for K1 Interview

Hello Everyone,

 

I am the petitioner and was wondering if my fiancee will need my original birth certificate or will a copy be enough for the k-1 interview? My Fiancee said that she needs my original birth certificate for the interview.

She will not need your original documents.

Per the instructions for Vietnam, the consulate requires original and copy of the birth certificate for petitioner and beneficiary.  If she does not have it, the CO will make a decision on whether they will ask you to send it.

When your fiance receives her invitation letter from the consulate, she'll be directed to these "Packet 3 Instructions" (in English and Vietnamese) that includes all the required documents  -

It certainly says that........I don't recall any other consulates requiring original birth certificates from a petitioner.  Strange how some requirements vary so.
