Hi all ,

I went for my visa stamping for h1b in January and received a 221g and no additional documents requested . My case was in admin processing since then .

It changed from AP to refused for additional documents  and I was asked to collect my passport with another 221g asking to me come for another interview after routine visa services .

1) Has anyone been in the situation ?
2) since routine visa services have not resumed , is there any other way to expedite the process .

3) what kind of questions might they ask ?

Aren't all H1b visas suspended until 2021?  If so, there will no expediting the process until the suspension has lifted.  That category of visas will not be resumed until then at the earliest. They will not be issued when routine resume.

Only way to expedite/get issued at present is if you fall under medical personnel critical to fighting Covid afaik.

Good point.  I forgot about that......

I thought they don’t issue AP status anymore. It’s Refused now. I want to clarify if your status went from AP  to Refused?

how did you know that additional docs are needed?

my interview went to Refused. I don’t know why. No one gave me 221g. I wonder if there will be an email?

Hi ,

i went for my first stamping interview in Jan and received a 221g with status in AP since then .

It changed to refused in sept and was asked to collect my passport with which there was another 221g requesting for additional documents.

It mentioned to come for another interview which the regular operations have begun with the docs .

I was wondering if I can get a letter from the employer meeting the exemptions of the new proclamation for h1b and apply for a EA.

any advice ?

What are your circumstances that you meet the exemptions?

There is another thread here about medical professionals getting emergency appointments for their H1s, do you fall into that category?

To be specific, qualifying for an exemption does not by itself mean you also necessarily qualify for an emergency appointment.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/exceptions-to-p-p-10014-10052-suspending-entry-of-immigrants-non-immigrants-presenting-risk-to-us-labor-market-during-economic-recovery.html

Applicants who are subject to any of these Proclamations, but who believe they may qualify for a national interest exception or other exception, should follow the instructions on the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate’s website regarding procedures necessary to request an emergency appointment and should provide specific details as to why they believe they may qualify for an exception.  While a visa applicant subject to one or more Proclamations might meet an exception, the applicant must first be approved for an emergency appointment request and a final determination regarding visa eligibility will be made at the time of visa interview.  Please note that U.S. Embassies and Consulates may only be able to offer limited visa services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in which case they may not be able to accommodate your request unless the proposed travel is deemed emergency or mission critical.
