Beating a 3 year old with a belt for 30 minutes IS abuse. Here in the US you would be guaranteed to live the next 15 years with your son in a foster home, and you probably with a police record and some time in jail.

The neighbor probably stole it. You've beaten your child for nothing.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

well i know...i ask sorry to my son after what happen...i was just so angry. I'm sorry to say this to you guys i know its wrong to use a belt but forgive me eh i was angry i didnt mean to hurt my son to much okay..FORGIVE ME

You don't need to ask forgiveness from us. If you feel this bad about it, the situation needs to be dealt with amongst your family. It's not going to make it any better disclosing something like this in an open forum.

You spanked your son for 30 minutes with a belt and he is 3 years old?

Now that my friend is coming close to abuse.

Spanking a child for 30 minutes with a belt is not close to abuse, it IS abuse! A 3 year old???? Come on!!!! First of all you left something valuable out in the open that would fasinate a child and now it's HIS fault? It's your fault for leaving it in the open! Did you ever think that the person watching your son may have something to do with all this? You need to be reported to the authorites for this. A pop on the a$$ with a belt is one things, but for 30 minutes????????

On a serious note, if you lash out in anger like this, you might want to consider help. You son is already scared of you and that is not a good thing. Children learn to trust at a very young age and actions like yesterday will surely break that trust.

If the OP comes here to the States and does something of this magnitude, more than likely she will be reported to Child Services and the scenario that PlatyPius posted will become a reality.

I have to agree, sounds like guy that was watching your son might have taken it.

It's good to hear that you realized you made a mistake by using physical punishment on your son, that's no way to win your son's respect. Good luck in the future.

Wow this is not right! Time outs work better and rewarding kids for good behavior. He doesn't know the value of the ring. Stop using the belt!!

Learn from your mistake and move on. There is nothing u can do now but change your ways of discipline for the future.

Spanking a child that is 3 for 30 minutes is WRONG

Poor little thing. (F)

I cant stand seeing mothers beating there kids butt in Walmart or yelling at them all the time. Or carrying switches around. Why do so many people beat their kids? In the South its crazy. I have never been hit by my parents growing up. Down here you see it all the time.

Hi all,

Agree with most posts here and can say most definately this was not only bad judgement is was abusive. It would certainly have ended in criminal charges as well, your son would be placed with another appropriate relative or in foster care. I do not agree with using a belt PERIOD. And using a belt on a three year old is not good judgement.

And in this situation, you have no idea where your ring is and quite frankly a three-year-old is going to try to get into things he knows he is not supposed to. It is your responsiblity as the adult to make sure expensive things are in places that he cannot reach...

If you did hit your child with a belt as hard as you describe for thirty minutes, he may need medical attention. I would suggest getting some help for your anger with a good therapist. If you get this angry that you hit your child for thirty minutes and cannot modulate your emotions. This is not okay.

I am happy that you are showing some remorse, however, it will take quite a lot of emotional healing for your child to feel comfortable again...

This post upset me to the upmost. You need to take your child to the hospital if you beat him hard for 30 min. with a belt

to check for injuries. He is barely out of diapers for Pete's sake.

You need anger management classes and parental counseling to learn how to raise a child.

This child is being abused obviously and if I could find you I would call the police believe me.

If it happened like you said it will happen again.

Have you lost your mind ? Who gives a rats rear end about the dang ring lady ? Focus on this child.

Get help before you seriously injure this precious little child and he is already emotionally scarred.

Man, this is upsetting , I am truly beside myself !

someone early on in the thread suggested this could be a troll and not the actual poster

What's a troll? I'm getting the impression that it's when someone hacks into your account..

thanks for the link CharlesandNessa

a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding.[1] They may also plant images and data on networks that others may find disturbing (usually indirectly relating to the individual in person) in order to cause confrontation.

Okay but this seems ridiculous to me.. what satisfaction could this person/troll get if this is in fact a troll? Just a bunch of ppl telling them they should be ashamed of themselves for beating their child? woopdie doo!! sounds like a hoot to me!

hmm, next search for google, how to become a troll... so there!

NOT.
