Is it okay that the old passport expiring while applying for Citizenship?

My old passport from my birth country will be expiring Nov 2020. And I am applying for a citizenship right now and will be mailing my application in a few days. 

Do I also need to renew my passport, will having an expired passport cause any issues for either my application or for my stay in the US?

A passport does not prove legal residence - a green card does.   Now if you want to travel internationally in the meantime then you need a new passport.

It does NOT matter.What they ask you to bring to interview ia ALL passports you used to enter or exit US.

For the N-400, no need to renew your passport.

 

If your field office processing time is going to be a year or more, imo I would renew the passport in case I need it for a business trip, vacation or family emergency. If you don't plan to take any such trip, then there is no need to renew your passport.

Thank you guys for your responses. I was mostly sure that an expired passport would not be a problem, but at the same time I did not want to be overconfident and assume. It is better to be a 100% sure.
