“Rebelling” gained you nothing but the ire of your neighbors and cast aside the work of two generations of solid, honest, responsible Texas Republicans.

We should have stood up and we should have been examples of how to deal with this.  Instead, we got snuffed in Asia and our whole country looks weak, sick, and foolish.  Nobody has led us to the bottom as efficiently as Trump has and it is our hard work, not Trump and his grifters, who built up our economy.  It was booming when he took office and it will be booming after he leaves.

Layoffs today:  Marathon and Shell.  Cutting deep.  Where’s that recovery?  LOL

I really don't understand the LOL at the end of your response.  Sad.

BTW, when you say nobody has led us to the bottom as efficiently as Trump, I assume that means you are too young to remember Carter.  I guess you're really young since you also don't remember how good the economy was before COVID.

And, to paraphrase you, the economy was booming before COVID and it will be booming after COVID.

Which economic shutdowns are Trump's fault exactly? These are state/local orders by governors and mayors. They follow a pattern that completely defies what Trump has said he wants, and when Trump does things he can actually do (e.g. travel ban) they screech about invented "raaaaacism" and file lawsuits trying to stop him. 😂

I warned that the people pushing their governors and mayors to shut things down would try to keep things shut down to hurt Trump, I also said they'd then turn around and blame the devastating economic effects of it on Trump as well. What a shock, they did both. They want to re-open things after the election, want to tie school re-openings to unrelated black lives matter demands ("defund the police!").. none of it has anything to do with health, these people want to inflict as much pain on the US as possible and then hope through a widespread effort of gaslighting, they can raise people's cognitive dissonance enough to divert their anger over things governors and mayors did, toward Trump. Conveniently, they blame him for the crime spikes too from their "reimagine policing" (aka defunding/crippling/attacking their police while letting rioters run rampant and talking about some made-up white supremacist movement causing this violence we see being perpetrated by left wing nutjobs) idea, which is effectively, allow violence and destruction until you give us our way. You getting the picture yet? Punish you (cheer on the authoritarians shutting things down, cheering fining and shutting down businesses/churches/etc trying to reopen) and then hope enough people parroting the "water isn't wet" gaslighting convinces you and gets you on board blaming the person they're blaming, even if it makes no sense at all. They need to be thoroughly beat down in November. This kind of stuff deserves no validation whatsoever.

The LOL means our own layoffs start on the 12th and the recovery exists in speeches.

I do remember Carter, and I remember Reagan.  Carter I believe was the last time Texas voted nationally blue and he got one-termed exactly like Trump is getting one-termed.

There is a reason the Reagan Foundation forbid Trump from using Reagan’s legacy or image for campaigning a few weeks ago, and it was beautifully timed.

Victimize Trump all you want to.  He’s a liar, a leech, a coward, doesn’t even have a single company listed on a single stock exchange, managed to start with 200 million dollars and grow his way into -400 million and you people attribute the success of every listed company in America to Trump.  His accomplishments. spent his entire life failing businesses, and squandered hundreds of millions of dollars of other people’s money.  You are welcome to define success however you want to, but that isn’t Republican success.

That gets gutted, then we will start over.

Who sits in a chair at the White House does not determine our outcome and it’s a pity to see “republicans” looking to Washington as hopefully and as breathlessly as the poor that they despise.

I dont think that people who call for masking up and getting back to work are trying to “inflict pain on the economy” after that worked so well in Asia

Trump enablers forbid our local communities from enforcing masks until the hospitals were full and the FEMA trucks started storing bodies.  Then:  statewide order

July we masked up, we’re JUST opening.  That’s unforgivable.

Can’t say the same for those who enthusiastically spit spray newly opened businesses and shut them right back down because of sick workers just “because they have a right to”.

So true.. and even if people aren't the type to consider the depth and pervasiveness of corruption in these establishments and would prefer to keep things as simple as possible, surely they'd quickly see something wrong with the "unified" media voice, neoconservatives that were given the boot jumping to Democrats (comically abandoning their fraudulent "conservative" values all to get Trump), all the trashy stuff people didn't want in the last election lining up against Trump even more-so. Nothing would be better than a big middle finger to them and giving Trump an even larger victory than last time. Let's go 350+ EC votes.

Not a prayer

Add 5 senators to the tally too.  Y’all need to find different hobbies.  Germ spreading and sinking each other’s boats are falling outa favor 😂

Texan my whole life.  I didn't vote for Trump last time (Evan McMullin got my vote) but I'm voting Trump this time.  Personally, I can't stand Trump, but I agree with most things he's done in his four years.  And I can't vote for Biden after he picked Harris.  And I definitely wouldn't want to see the country run like the Democrat led cities right now.

IMO, COVID crushed the US not because of Trump but because of us, the citizens.  There is a large group of us that, if we're told to do something, we're going to rebel and do the opposite.  The people that refuse to wear masks would refuse no matter who was President.  It's just part of the American culture, I guess.  We achieve great things when people say it can't be done; but we also do stupid things because people tell us we have to.  It's who we are.

Not everyone is a rebel. Some are just people who heard the things that they wanted to hear. No one could have prevented this, but the disingenuous message and constant dismissal of the experts has not helped the situation.

+1,000 upvotes.  The people are the ONLY way to control the spread, in any nation other than China, where they welded doors on houses and apartments shut to control their populace.

As Trump said, "I've done more in 47 months than you have in 47 years."  To me, that was the basis if the debate, and all I need to cast my vote for him this round.  Good to hear another Texan disputing what the above malarky is claiming to be the "Texan norm".  Ain't gonna happen.  I suspect it comes from the frustration of knowing that no matter how much you hate Trump, your vote won't count because of which state you live in.

Which hospitals were full?  What FEMA trucks were ever utilized?

Texas Tribune was covering it back in July.  Here’s one example.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/07/17/texas-officials-order-extra-body-bags-mortuary-trucks-as-state-braces-for-rising-coronavirus-deaths.html

As far as the hospitals TMC (Texas Medical Center) puts out a report for the Houston area daily.  We masked up July 3rd, hospitals peaked a couple weeks later then started trending down, and the death rates have followed.

At one point they were putting patients (adults) in Texas Children’s and also COV patients in MD Anderson.

Sounds like you guys were way behind the power curve on protecting yourselves.

Also, requesting refrigerated trucks, and actually using them are two different things.  MANY reefer vehicles sat around NYC unused for months.

Nah I remember when we tossed Jack Brooks and that lot and swapped to deep red.  I was around when Williams (who was a shoo-in) got skewered and we switched to blue.  In 1990, losing the governor’s office to a dim was hard to do.

People I known my whole life, and I dont know many dims, are talking exactly like they were talking then.  Not the mob trash we see on TV.  Yeah, he has support here, but I know for sure he isn’t getting the 52% he got in 2016.  And 52% ain’t much of a majority.  I’m calling it.  It isn’t like Texas will much matter, but that’s a message that won’t be forgotten and hopefully will help clean the nutjobs, wingnuts, conspiracy theorists, and crybaby victims out of the Republican party.

Of course, just a flu right.  Our cities were prohibited from passing enforceable mask rules.  After June, it became a statewide mandate.  We know what happened and how it happened and that is on the shoulders of the president and his enablers.
