Hi. Does anyone know approximately how long it was taking to get an interview date in Mumbai after DQ prior to the COVID-19 outbreak? In other words, approximately how much time between DQ and the actual interview date?

Based on the statistics from visajourney members since 2018-10-01 (Mumbai)

NOA2 - > Interview (~ 230 days)

So based on few assumptions:

NVC(getting from USCIS, creating case, fees, approvals)  was taking =  ~90-110 days (average)

NVC (DQ) -> Mumbai Interview = ~ 120 days (average)

You say, after getting the DQ from NVC, Mumbai embassy will take 4 months to schedule the interview?

Based on the statistics - Yes

Also, I read some other questions/answers on visa journey. They were mentioning some people who had DQ from Nov 2019 had interviews in March 2020 (mid). Again this is all before Covid thing happened.

With recent announcemen (Sep 7, 2020) from Mumbai consulate related to processing CR1/CR2/IR1/IR2 it might be quicker than 4 months. Again, we do not have any data to validate it yet.

I contacted NVC on sept 15th and according to the agent on phone, Mumbai hasn't started scheduling interviews for IR1/CR1. I am totally confused why consulate would say they have started and NVC would say they haven't.

Does anyone know anyone within VJ who has heard from Mumbai consulate?

I get the same response too from NVC. May be the phone agent does not have the exact information.

But that agent did mention that Mumbai Consulate will post on their own website once they start the process. As per agent Mumbai Consulate did not do that yet.

Hopefully agent is wrong but so far it adds up.

Thank you so much for your reply. Wow, that’s a long wait! And now with the backlog, it’s probably going to be longer.

Yes they have translators for those who do not speak very good English, but if he can manage then I suggest he does English as it shows he can transition to the USA. I am guessing they have Hindi for sure, but don't know about State languages.

We were wondering if English was the better choice for that reason as well! We will just continue to sharpen his language skills until then! (He does fineeeeee. He's just nervous!)

Hi. We got DQ on May 27th. We’re eagerly waiting to hear some good news soon. It’s been a really long and tough wait. I hope we all get our interview dates very soon.

This is great. I have been looking for a post like this.

My DQ date is May 18th. I had another post and someone told me people from Dec 4th 5th and 7th DQs got interview reschedule date on September 15th. So looks like they started processing them.

My cousin's DQ is Jan 28th. He contacted US travels in India and they told him like they were partially open and processing cases. I also emailed US travels and they confirmed they started processing from September 1st.

So hopefully since all other visas are banned, they fly through IR/CR1 cases. It is totally unfair to wait 2 years after marriage for spouses to get here. My NOA 1 date was Feb 2019.

Thanks in advance.
