Thank you for this link. I have been trying to figure out the dates they have been working. Our interview is suppose to be in Canada but my husband is stuck due to COVID. Seems like both Embassy timelines are similar.

Hello My friends,

I know we all are frustrated on this intentional long wait times to reunite with ur family and friends. After paying all the fees and following the due process they are making all wait for months/years to get your family members legally to the US, which is completely immoral and unethical. But let me give you some direction and it has helped lot of people in getting interviews scheduled for IR1/CR1.

1. Please find out your local house representative or Senator of the area.

2. Visit their website and call them in their office.

3. Explain them your situation that it causing mental torture and depression and ask them why there is never ending wait for scheduling the interview when you have done your job diligently and you have been D'Qed.

4. If you are US Citizen tell them that you are not excluded for VISA interview under presidential declaration, which barred certain categories earlier.

5. They will ask you to fill in the privacy release Form.

6. Fill then form and submit to their office.

7. They will contact NVC on your behalf to take this matter with US Embassy to expedite the interview scheduling.

I know people who have done above successfully get the interviews scheduled. Also pass on this message to all the people who have been waiting for months/years with no end in sight so they could get relief. If you all do your part it will build the pressure to act. Also please sign up on Twitter and tweet to the US Consulate Mumbai about your case and why there is such a long wait. They will come back and say Covid and reduced staff. Submit a FOIA request how much staff is reduced due to Covid and how it has impacted their normal processing times.

Hi milestone,

You have a good idea. Could you please provide us the contact numbers of the people who have benefited from taking this approach of contacting local senators or house representatives? Everyone is waiting for their interview and the interviews are being conducted as per plan unless it is an emergency situation. So just want to know how this benefited them in expediting the process.

Hello,

My wife's documents were qualified around 29th July 2020.

We tried reaching out to the local house of representatives and explained to them about our situation. Mental stress and anxiety was one of our claims to get our case expedited, but the office told us that we have to wait as there are others in line.
I will try reaching out to them again and see if they consider our case.

Does anyone know if we can apply for a tourist visa while we are waiting on the immigration case to progress?

Has anyone tried this route? Please share your experiences.

I wouldn't go for tourist visa as they usually decline those unless you already have travel  visa.

My lawyer told us that he has seen consulates reject US tourist visa because they would argue that your spouse is trying to circumvent the system. He also said that there is no clear answer to this questions because some people have been successful in getting a visa while others have been rejected. it depends entirely on the case officer.

So i would say yes you can try but understand that you could get rejected because you have an ongoing case.

Hello, I went through this process several times but had no luck. My house representative basically said they don't have control over NCV. Im not saying it isn't worth trying it cz at tge end of the day you're not loosing anything, you know.

I thought so! Just does not seem logical that NVC will let you cut the line to get in front of other eligible applicants just because you called senator. It is different story under emergency situation. Again I will be very happy to be wrong. Please post if any success stories with this approach.
