Renewed EAD validity date

Hello everyone. I just received my EAD that I renewed 2 months ago, i am a little puzzled about the validity date. My first EAD card expires December 19  2020. I expected that the validity of the renewed EAD card starts after the first one expires. My new card's validity instead is 09/01/2020 (date it was approved) - 08/31/2021. Is this correct? I assume it would be something like December 19 2020 - Dec 19 2021?

 

Mostly curious if I should contact them, I am grateful nonetheless I got it renewed fast.
